Fun fact there is currently an election in Quebec and multiple partys are proposing expansion of the Internet latout or even nationalisation of Internet infrastructure. So it will probably get a bit better for some of us!

Ok. But why. How much does it cost to lay a few more 600km lines of fibre from Montreal straight to NYC? and then from there, Ottawa and Toronto are easily linked up. That's 3 of your 5 biggest cities connected.
