Maru is one of the most popular players in the scene, isn't he? Who has a bigger fanbase? Byun, I guess. Maybe Zest? Anyone else? Dear on the other hand, has kind of lurked about the edges of greatness ever since his one magnificent peak, and has the (small) fanbase to match. | ||

People support Maru because he rose to fame by winning when his race was underpowered. Dear's peak was still in a period of protoss dominance, so he never built the same fanbase | ||

The fact that Maru won more games is not particularly relevant. Also, the nerfs that Protoss is getting along with the buffs Terran is getting wouldn't really have made much of a difference given that the games Dear won went past the early game, and stalkers get worse as time goes on. Also, the disruption matrix lasting a couple seconds longer would not have made Maru win. In the past couple of weeks, Protoss really only had a 52/53% winrate over Terran. It's been the last couple of days that the winrate has spiked to 59%, though it's only been 5 days. I do expect the winrate to even out somewhat over the next week or so. | ||
