Let's redefine it then if tier confuses you... higher tech level units should defeat lower tech units in general.Otherwise they'd have a no role in the game.
Because they have a role in the game, it is obvious they do. Now of course in a 1vs1, a Zealot beats a High Templar or an Immortal beats an Ultralisk or Thor, but that situation isn't realistic for a competitive 1vs1 game of SC2. Nor is a situation of just building an army of tier 3 units...

Nah, you just need gosu ghost micro. Inno and Byun have been going ghost before libs and it works quite well against Ultras. Bio/Tank/Ghost works in the lategame, you add Liberators and Vikings as the game goes super late and Zerg adds BL and Infestors.
Also a ghostball takes awhile to build up, while libs can be reactored out so starting ghosts before libs helps that way.

There was one day about a week ago where I watched him do it on stream like five times in a row. Also, if you watch Inno vs Leenock game 2 in GSL, he starts ghost production near the end (though he never needs it).
"Early" is a bit of a misnomer since it's not like the 3-ghost push or anything, just earlier than Terrans got them pre-4.0
