(and take them out of the fight) Corruptors needed something other than morphing into broodlords which is super expensive.
Let us not forget that they had something and it was helpful vs. high HP air targets.
Maybe not strong enough but it would be fine in today's meta instead of the stupid infestor change they want to add.

That's not a great train tbh. Just because another race can do something with an air unit doesn't mean that corruptors should.
Also, Phoenix are sitting ducks when they lift and Vikings have bad DPS and are somewhat weak when they transform from what I recall.

Corruptors are also sitting ducks when they attack a building. All they can do is pick off a single building if there is absolutely no defense.
