2017 OSC Changes:
As this is posted, our 2016 Championship is just finishing up (which was the 7 day Grand Finale of our $250,000 season, featuring the top 50 players who acquired points from 300+ events in 2016), however, while that's all been going on, the team have been working hard behind the scenes to launch season 2017 and go again, with some exciting changes! All your favourite partnered events should be back bigger and better than ever, with a few new cups coming too!
Working closely with players and teams, we are pleased to see it’s becoming more common practice for teams to incorporate OSC Rankings and participation into player salaries/bonuses, as it is a mutually beneficial model combining results and activity. After such a successful 2016, we hope to see this continue!
We're again committed to putting on an ongoing narrative for players to compete in and fans to follow and enjoy in 2017
Season 2017 starts Sunday, Jan 08 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) with Americas Open #100!
You can find and keep up to date with all upcoming partnered tournaments, rankings, results and rewards at SC2Online
Changes:
Every Player, regardless of region earns participation points (2.5)
OSC home region players (NA, SEA, CH) gain bonus 2.5 participation (5 total)
Chinese + Taiwanese players now join the SEA/ANZ participation competition ($1200 AUD)
EU + KR have a new shared participation competition ($850 USD)
+ Show Spoiler [Participation Competition Details/Brea…] +
Scalp Points (bonus for beating high ranked players) will be modified to now tie in with the bounty competition. All players regardless of region, will get 10% of the bounty value in points (eg 10% of a $50 Bounty = 5 bonus points), if that player is higher than them in the current OSC Rankings.
10% of 25 = 2.5, 10% of 50 = 5
Values must be in increments of 2.5, thus a bounty of $15 will be rounded up to $2.5, $30 down to 2.5, $40 up to 5, and 60 down to 5
Bounties can still only be won by players who meet existing eligibility. (NA, SEA, CH, L.AM, TW).
There's also rumors of team support/rewards coming in the future!
Competitions like $ Bounties ($5120 won in 2016) Player + Rising Star of the Month and Challenge Matches will continue as per 2016
