That was just the most garbage engagement ever. Canata just ran cyclones, tanks and thors into a huge stalker/tempest concave and rolled everything in like 10 seconds.

actually with the 4th base not finished Byun was not mining more than Ryung for the last 2 minutes even with his worker lead. He will get a lead soon enough though

Point taken about the nerve issues and offline matches but I've seen some flawless and jaw dropping play from him in some games. My normal reaction would be to leave, and I've tried several times, but there's nowhere else I can watch SC2 with people so I always come back here.

For real though, I wish adepts weren't super tanky, highly mobile and high damage at the same time. At least bio is fragile.

It really depend on the quality of the game to be honest. I mean Classic vs Dark yesterday was a much higher level serie, and hate on protoss or not, but everyone recognize how well Zest played the final last season. Between Myungsick and Dear, we can't really say the GSL got the "best" protoss players .

I think it's really a specificity with Dear. He's excellent and builds leads pretty easily against most opponents but also relatively frequently throws those leads.

honestly the SC2 community that post in these threads seems to be almost unable to enjoy everything good games -> whine bad games -> whine cheese -> whine macro game -> whine

he's a protoss playing a pvt is why. I thought the snapshot after the "failed" allin was that they were pretty even and he made a really unusual but smart choice and ended up losing to some oversight with upgrades. I'm also a protoss player tho
not getting upgrades was a decision, not an oversight. he was massing a lot of units after doubleexp skipping tech and upgrades. best case ty(expecting "normal" number of gwunits) commits to an attack and he can crush it, otherwise he has to go in and try to finish very soon which he did.

Reminder that the LotV 1-1-1 mostly works because photon overcharge was moved away from the nexus, while this change made other Terran cheese/all-in/pressure builds a lot worse
What I don't get is that yes, it was obvious Dear skipped on upgrades to mass units and kill him, failed when his push met a fortified position. But why would a 1-1, nearly 2-2 equal army supply Dear still had the edge until 4 upgrades up and poor positioning. Adepts were far too valuable for the drops where matched they were barely dealt with and at the front threatening.

Its not like im for removing cheese from this game or anything, but there are several points from the Terran side in TvP which are ridiculous to me:
- DTs / requirements to produce a fucking raven (also gas cost..)
- Prism pick up from range is extremely strong and sometimes leaves u without counterplay (u need a viking since ur ground units will never be able to be in range of the prism when it just wants to pickup)
- Adept shade cancelbility. U need 2 armies (in both mineral lines) that can beat the adepts in ur base since u cannot tell if the shade is going to be finished or cancelled
- Adepts+Prism + Pylon overcharge allows for defense while having a unit count that normally would be way too low.
Im not saying nerf all these things without making up for them. Like buff gateway units (other than adept) or do something else to make Protoss not need all those stupid things

Look at the tournament winners for the last few years and you'll see why. It didn't help that certain mediocre terran players switched to protoss and became world beaters after 2 months.

Of course Protoss has more bullshit things than other races (shit i personally wrote The Great Book...), but the community can't tell the difference between a good read and an abusive game so all they are left with is flaming one third of the players.
Take the Dusk Towers game. Dear's read was "ok my all-in has done enough damage for me to transition, but not enough to end the game. He's forced into a very defensive position and a late stim, but he has 3CCs so he'll probably gear up for a push once his army stabilizes in a few minutes, before that i don't have much to fear. I can't catch up in both economy and upgrades, and if i invest in upgrades my economy is too shit to produce enough units, but i can definitely double expand safely, my main is mining out anyway so i need that 4th. I'll just skip forges, get a massive low tech army and crush him when he moves out to try to kill my 3rd or take his 4th", which is actually a pretty good read. The thread's comments were "lol adept allin into double expand lol protoss bullshit lol".

luckily terran never had and never will have bullshit cheese/allins
Its not like im for removing cheese from this game or anything, but there are several points from the Terran side in TvP which are ridiculous to me:
- DTs / requirements to produce a fucking raven (also gas cost..)
- Prism pick up from range is extremely strong and sometimes leaves u without counterplay (u need a viking since ur ground units will never be able to be in range of the prism when it just wants to pickup)
- Adept shade cancelbility. U need 2 armies (in both mineral lines) that can beat the adepts in ur base since u cannot tell if the shade is going to be finished or cancelled
- Adepts+Prism + Pylon overcharge allows for defense while having a unit count that normally would be way too low.
Im not saying nerf all these things without making up for them. Like buff gateway units (other than adept) or do something else to make Protoss not need all those stupid things
Terran builds a Starport anyway but Protoss has to explicity build a Dark Shrine to be able to warp them in. I don't see how that is a lesser requirement. With the cost of the Dark Shrine it's also more expensive. And you know what else is really strong? Fast medivacs which often times don't allow counterplay. Or Liberators. Fuck Liberators.

Well Toss players get to complain when Terran BS in form of Libs rolls out (another retarded unit that seems to be a band-aid fix). And i feel like often times Protoss gets to be aggressive with prism adepts while safely expanding behind thanks to the mothership core. This just seems to be against the basic concept that u need units to defend an expansion (or two). Like the terran definitely cannot leave their base as long as the prism is around so theyre bound to some reactive style while protoss can do whatever they want for the first 10 minutes. This is obviously exaggerated but the core of it somehow seems true to me.

Lolwut. The Starport is one of the 3 core production buildings of course u get it. But u never ever ever want a techlab on it. You absolutely need Medivacs and often times Liberators are kinda needed as well (due to retarded design in lotv). Imagine i snipe your observer and u need to lift ur robo, make an addon to it and then produce a new observer (which takes twice the time to build) and then fly it back again and start producing actually useful units like immortals and co

Well i already admitted that libs are equally dumb as some of the toss things and 8 armor Ultras are quite dumb as well imo. I dont think those wrongs make other wrongs right, they should all be fixed instead. And ye protoss got quite the history in sc2 making them stand out as a "special" race :D

4 player maps do feel a little more stupid in LotV because builds kick in faster, so you can get really unlucky. For example, on Frost even with a pylon scout if you find a zerg last and he's going for a 12 pool you barely have any time to react which kinda sucks, in WoL/HotS the game was a little slower.

It isn't the smart play though with a slightly larger army and when you know your opponent doesn't really have the Vikings to deal with your Colossi. I get your point...it wasn't a guaranteed win for TY if Dear doesn't attack but he would've been in a really strong position if nothing happened in the game for even a minute or if he had held which was going to be close if his units were at home.

I agree it wasn't very smart, he should have brought the units back after he killed the warp prism. However, TY just generally looked a bit off today, and Dear didn't look like he was at his best either.

Of course Protoss has more bullshit things than other races (shit i personally wrote The Great Book...), but the community can't tell the difference between a good read and an abusive game so all they are left with is flaming one third of the players.
Take the Dusk Towers game. Dear's read was "ok my all-in has done enough damage for me to transition, but not enough to end the game. He's forced into a very defensive position and a late stim, but he has 3CCs so he'll probably gear up for a push once his army stabilizes in a few minutes, before that i don't have much to fear. I can't catch up in both economy and upgrades, and if i invest in upgrades my economy is too shit to produce enough units, but i can definitely double expand safely, my main is mining out anyway so i need that 4th. I'll just skip forges, get a massive low tech army and crush him when he moves out to try to kill my 3rd or take his 4th", which is actually a pretty good read. The thread's comments were "lol adept allin into double expand lol protoss bullshit lol".
It's incredlby toxic, especially having to mod the forum and seeing balance whining essentially only thrown at one race.

Every protoss that hasn't left TL will tell you that it's happening. Mods, who are the first to know about balance whine cause they ban it, tell you it's happening. If you don't find that convincing, what can I do?
It's not only Protosses leaving Team Liquid. I meet twice as much Terrans and Zergs than Protoss on ladder. 40% more Terrans and Zergs. Feels Fair.
That actually strongly depends on your league. The higher you go the less Protoss there are until the top of GM, it's really really wierd. And really nice because my PvP is god awful, it really sucks when your opponent also has access to Adepts.

I was on cusp of masters in na and all i had was pvt for the most part with a sprinkling of pvz, which is too bad because my best matchup by far is pvp.
there are far far fewer protoss overall on ladder but i definitely agree that different parts of the ladder have wildly different race distributions.
what would people recommend to watch from the other batch of quarters in gsl? i didn't really watch day 1 and haven't really kept up with ssl either (although i did watch a couple of games out of classic/dark)

sOs vs herO and MyuNgSiK vs GuMiho were both completely terrible series and made everyone doubt if KR would ever show good games again.

Well, no Z are left in the tournament so my passion already tanked, but this series seemed kinda eh. I really liked the Byun/Ryung one, but the PvT seemed a bit bullshit against T. Oh well, I can look forward to an ASL/GSL finals day without any Z possible so oh well.
