I have no idea who to cheer for. Stats is on KT and i like him decently enough, but i am a zerg at heart and i like Dark quite a bit. I guess i just hope we get good games^^

Well, he said in his MVP interview on Tuesday that he hadn't started practicing for the finals yet, so I assume he just dropped the ball in GSL.
Honestly, Dark looked really weak in GSL. But none of those games were ZvP, and maybe he was busy practicing for SSL instead of that. Either way, I totally think Stats can take some games off him, if not the series.

I don't know but to me it kinda like Stats after defending drops is trying to react blindly to possible roach/hydra/lurker and then realized he is facing other composition too late and goes for desperate push that gets rekted.
So either Stats is making bad decisions because of stress/nerves or was practicing different style of pvz and Dark is totally different beast. Close enough?

Why is Stats fighting after the Nexus is dead, not while it's alive? Seems dumb. I still don't get why he doesn't kill Dark when all Dark has are Lings and bases.

I think tier 3 is a stupid expression I used. But I guess so, yeah. And yeah, I know there is a counter to everything and the game is balanced and such... As said I was refering to the comment that every race is equal in mid/endgame if it is just left alone in the beginning.

Because when SlayerS disbanded and Boxer became SKT's coach he only took Dark and Brown with him, and Brown is retired now.

Don't really know why Dark isn't using Vipers/Infestors against this and relies solely on Corruptors while he isn't even targeting anything with them... They have low DPS, you have to focus fire Mothership/Void Rays with them for them to be able to do anything.

templar have been so amazing in pvz ever since the swarm host nerf... swarm host era was awful but one thing they absolutely did was zone out templars really well and force toss to pull them back
i wish we could have something more like ghost vs templar micro for infestor vs templar... oh well

stop trying to bait a balance argument, zergs at all levels right now agree that aggression is the better way to play and lategame is very difficult. that's not the same as saying the matchup is imba

That means that he has to be with HTs in front of Mothership for him to be able to Feedback Vipers which isn't always possible nor good, they can be sniped by 11 range Brood Lords.
Feedback existed since WoL and I didn't see that stopping Zergs from using Vipers in the late game, they are still one of the best support units that Zerg has.

well i dont play tvp so i dunno, but of course i meant hots ghost vs templar (which was rare enough because of terran not really going for ghosts)
i feel like you could make a bell curve out of the amount of balance/design discussion that happens in a grand finals series and it would peak a little bit after the halfway point of the series

Wasn't the reverse true on central protocal? I feel like Dark wasted a lot of gas on bane harass which did not achieve him anything. That's why Dark army was weaker than stats and there was no tech switch/remax potential for Dark.
disagree with the casters a bit, that's a gigantic probe pull, the damage from running them that far is still pretty decent when protoss has a 2 base economy
I'd love to see Dark bring in a second overlord with banes when the probes clump up after being pulled. Or he could even use an empty overlord to make them pull if he doesn't want to have to use 8 banes.

And that is exactly the point, isn't it? The army doesn't appear out of blue sky. The important point that even if there is an army composition that is very strong, it doesn't mean any problem as long as there isn't a strategy that would lead your there safely.

Stats used way too much energy with Phoenixes on those 4 Queens in Dark's base, Phoenixes didn't have enough to stop Roaches and Queens from the Nydus.
while I don't mind dark winning, these games just showed me why it is so frustrating to play sc2. There is so many ways to kill an opponent, and even if scouted you have to defend so perfecly...

Goes for bane drops in every game, I'd say that's pretty predictable. Note that I said it after Stats was completely prepared for the drops.
The point is that Baneling drops aren't huge investment while they are keeping Protoss in the base or being aware of drops happening.
Baneling doing damage or not didn't really matter in these games when Dark always could get fast 4 bases that couldn't be contested by Stats(well not including game 5 where Dark went for Hydra all-in).
Overall a decent Series, Stats learned how to deal with the Bane Drop better each game. That last map should have been his though, a counter with his adepts and phenixes togther could have done huge damage.
It was a decent finals, but I hope for SSL that everything is better next season. These grand finals had like 4k viewers on Youtube when they could have had 20k on Twitch.

Some Code A days broke 20k (*cough*Stork*cough*) and this was the Grand Finals, those usually draw extra. Not to mention it's on a Saturday where people can actually take the time to watch.
Even at its worst Code S draws at least twice as many viewers on Twitch as S2SL on Youtube. Plus S2SL had a lot of good will from last year where they were the superior league (since GOM was dying) which they wasted with the DingIt deal.

Yeah that's what I meant though, Code A had 20k, and RO16 has been like 10k. Hopefully it picks up.
But yeah SSL really screwed its viewership up with the dingit switch, I was one of the people who thought SSL was giving far better production and stuff to us last year.
Happy for Dark, a loss would have been devastating.
Stats is kinda of a winner here too imho, what he achieved on this map pool deserves a lot of respect. Even we the change, Prion remains a broken map that should not have been included in such important tournaments. It has to be changed again imho, or it will hurt another season of progaming.

Really felt Stats should have won game 6. It looked like P has to do everything perfectly in the matchup (against Dark's style) or they lose. He had 1 or 2 too few lifts left on the Phoenix to lose the game, despite defending so well all game.
