The only English caster who gets this right is Kaelaris so I'm not sure being American has anything to do with it.

i have been told by linguistics professors that using "good" instead of "well" is an American English phenomenon, but of course it's possible that listening to a lot of American English can have an influence on British/other speakers, and it is also possible that said linguistics professors were simply wrong.

Never heard of this issue, but after a little googling it seems both are correct. Languages changes with time, after all. I'm not a grammar nazi, but apparently it has something to do with "linking verbs" and "predicate adjective". So you can say "I'm good" instead of "I'm well", or "he's doing good", because good describes the verb "doing", without it meaning he's doing a good deed. Idk. I had an american drumteacher a few years back, and when he asked "How are you?" and I said "Well", he waited for like 20 seconds, because he thought I was just starting a sentence with "well....". :p

"correct" is not really a useful categorization. as you say, language changes, and when it comes to colloquial language use, nobody gives a flying fuck what a dictionary would have to say about their utterances. in my opinion, something becomes a valid use of language as soon as more than one speaker uses it, or potentially even if only one speaker uses it but other competent speakers of the language the speaker is using understand what they're trying to express.

I agree, was just pointing out that the existing grammar rules do no rule out the use of good. Urban dictionary is probably the most updated dictionary out there, because it reflects what people actually say and what they mean by it.

to be fair most of urban dictionary is just made up it seems
