Not really sure, perhaps just lack of time to organize it? Nothing else really makes sense because it only complicates things in the long run.

Koreans aren't banned. If they want to play in the $150k tourney, they need to invest in living in the region, I think that's more than fair enough. I can't stand when people say it's welfare money for Europeans now, it pretty much was welfare money for Koreans too.

Actually that's an interesting point because in a way, it was sort of like that. Koreans came to the NA and the EU regions at least partly because they were easier than the Korean regions. So while it may not have been welfare money, it was definitely easier than in Korea.

And actually, it's even less like welfare for the foreigners, because they now have to fight people of their own skill level to get the money, as opposed to people out of their skill level. It would be like if Koreans had to face archon mode Koreans and then call that fair.

I don't think people are upset that Koreans are banned in the WCS, because that's similar to how it was last year, but it's that Koreans are banned from the IEMs and the Dreamhacks, and those are the places where we expected to see top Koreans outside of Korea.

Yea but they're not actually banned. It's all about the ROI, is it worth moving outside of Korea to compete or stay at home and compete with the best of the best? They can compete just like Hydra and violet did. So we need to stop saying banned because they aren't really banned, they're just region locked out.

Also on that note, I feel like DH will end up in Korea anyways. I've never seen DH in my 13+ years of esports, leave Europe. This is the first time I'm seeing DH come to the US.

It's like if Barcelona FC was allowed to enter any soccer league they wanted. In the words of famous smasher D1: DEEEEESSSTRRRRUUUUCTIOOOOOONNN

With the new format we get like the Champions Cup. Sure Barcelona FC will win it as well, but it makes it a lot more doable for other teams/players to be a champion contender. We don't always get Real Madrid vs Barcelona grand finals, same will happen on WCS finals (hopefully).

I like the example more of star European players joining MLS or well what's relevant today is star European players in their primes joining the Chinese League. Higher pay-outs, salaries, weaker competition, more chance at lower prestige (less competition) trophies.

It suck for SEA player to have to play in NA, there is so many good player from there, they deserve at lest one or two spot for them.
