I know I'm gonna get railed.
If only you could build a Roach Warren for 150 minerals in case Terran uses this kind of push.
Life did that versus Flash the other day, and he probably would have held if not for the fact that he derped on a 4 Marine drop that killed 2 Overlords and some Drones in his main after already picking off the scouting Overlord at Flash's bases. It was a close fight even with those 300-400 extra minerals sunk into unnecessary losses.
Life did hold from memory.
Well, he 'held' and then got crushed right after that by the follow-up push because he had not even close to enough left in the tank to get out the right tech/unit count.

Cut them some slack, they've been defending all pushes with Queens + 6 Lings for more than a year now. Gotta relearn some of those hotkeys.

Except you can't scout it in time.
Overlord speed after ling speed sees completed armory too late. Which means you are blind-dropping a roach warren, never good to blindly drop tech.
you already have to blind drop the roach warren against protoss if you don't get a scout off and don't know what they're doing
no one is arguing that the roach warren isn't a significant investment, but if zvt is already strong then forcing z into an investment based on a new meta build isn't a problem...

Yep, I can certainly understand why losing a worker and spending 150 minerals puts you immensely behind in a 40 workers / 1.5k minerals per minut economy.
Except it's not just that. Once the warren completes you have to produce roaches to be safe. If the T is instead going 3CC then yes, you are quite far behind.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm all for giving T options, but forcing Z down a single opening tech route isn't a complete solution imo.

and commited to a push that didn't really work afterwards. was a cool game.

and you have to be mining gas to accomodate roaches in addition to your plans for upgrades and lairs, and you need to float additional supply ahead of your larva production so that you can make roaches instead of lings or drones (using twice as much supply per larva). basically you'd be floating and waiting, so you're no better off than just making the roaches blind anyway.

Yeah, okay we can get the Roach Warren. We still can't scout the armory in time and we would need to build roaches blindly before the attack is at our door, because once it's there it's too late to get roaches.
Exactly. And I can even share a secret... From my ladder experience against various Zerg pros, it works.
