Ya getting back to Korea 1 day before his Code S matches after flying from Europe has no effect on his play right? The scheduling really fucked over the players that went to IEM (herO and sOs) because you could definitely see it in their play. I'm assuming you didn't even watch the games just come in here to bitch about the results.
It's a shame I would've loved to see what they could've done on a couple days rest but whatever. Good for Rain and Zest.

Lol, haters will just jump on any opportunity to talk shit, despite the facts that sOs was jetlagged and had far less prep time than Zest. I'm sure sOs is perfectly happy with his 100k

herO played pretty well, no? sOs losing to Zest is no real upset either, Zest is just a beast
|
My only worry for Zest is him becoming the SC2 version of BeSt. Aka losing in final to some Z and then just being "good sometimes great"
OTHER THAN THAT, ZEST ZEST ZEST!

Hope Zest beats Rain so he can choke spetacularly in the finals agains Maru

I remember that time Seed literally came off the plane from IPTL to win his WCS Korea 2012 match. A God.

Also KT v SKT semi's in a GSL with a NON-Flash KT player who's on fire is pretty badass. Haha.

I've only been able to catch a few of Zest's games recently, but from what I've seen he's been extremely impressive.

SOS intentional throw, he's saving his strats for blizzcon. $100000 or no gg

What are you talking about? Every single 100k 1st place tournament (Blizzcon, IEM) in HotS has been won by $0$. A true champion

Yeah that was pretty awesome. I miss Seed, he signed my wallet at IPL Team Arena finals or w/e in San Francisco, awesome dude.

am i the only one who feels the jet lag excuse undermines not just a players win but the game itself?
everyone has ordeals to work hard on before a game, some we know about and some that we don't. jet lag may or may not have effected the result. if you choose to believe that jet lag was a deciding factor, then that is your choice, but make no mistake, it is an assumption.
i hope they can someday address the issue of jet lag by allowing more time for players to adjust if only to lessen the amount of people all of a sudden talking about it when a favourite player loses.

That´s because "deciding" to believe jet-lag were not a factor would be plain silly.

i'm sure it was a factor but really just unfortunate timing, herO and sOs made their decisions and knew the ramifications although it did suck very much that their flight got delayed

It's no use trying to justify one player's loss with only one likely factor. Maybe Zest had a confusing gay dream about Flash, was so mentally shaken that day that he forgot to eat his morning cereals, but still played better than sOs. That's the way it's must have been.

True, we don't know what factors may have been affecting Zest. But we know for sure that jet-lag was affecting sOs to some degree, and as someone who has a difficult time dealing with jetlag, I can empathize with how difficult it would be to step off a plane (merely traveling long distances is exhausting) and suddenly compete against top-tier competition in the most difficult tournament in the world. Not to mention that Zest had a lot more time to prepare while sOs was fighting his way through Katowice, and on top of that was privy to inspecting a bunch of recent sOs games to try to find holes in his play.
Zest may have had a bunch of problems that we simply don't know about. However, assuming both players are taking their GSL match seriously and thus would try to be as ready and in as good a condition as possible, sOs had no choice but to be affected by a bunch of obviously detrimental factors, while Zest, as far as I can tell, had a lot more freedom to be fresh and ready on his match day. The main point here is that although we can't know anything for sure, I find it a lot more likely that sOs had more skill-independent disadvantages than Zest on their match day due to their contrasting situations (just got off a plane after playing in a foreign tournament for a few days vs. living in a team house in those same few days and getting to just sit there and prepare, perhaps even analyze sOs's games)
