$O$ just for the massive money massive WCS point story he is building; Zest because he is a royal roader and actually ON FUCKING FIRE RIGHT NOW; Rain because of the obvious pun on Zest (Fire, Rain) and because mr. Stability has the most awesome builds to steal; herO because I kinda feel for him, and he is recently becoming my favorite player at a rapid pace!
Never thought I'd be -THIS- excited for a PvP day!
Zest > sOs 3-1 (Let's face it, this isn't a 100k tournament!)
herO > Rain 3-0
herO still best PvPer imo! sOs just broke him mentally during IEM, but now since this isn't a 100k or 0 game herO will get back into the groove of things.
I predicted that Rain would easily 3-0 sOs in the semifinals. Since I'm not as sure of my prediction as I pretend to be, I'd like herO or Zest to pull through, so that I can save face. Thanks!
I won't be surprised if sOs and herO just lose 0-3 in dramatic fashion and get kicked from Code S. Jetlag can hurt a lot, especially, when it's just 2 days. + herO, if he loses first map to Rain for example, ESPECIALLY BY PROXY GATES - oh boy.
Even though, it's PvP and guys can do it for sure.
sOs 3-1, Rain 3-1(2). ZEST, YOU WILL FINALLY GO DOWN.
On March 19 2014 06:56 Shellshock wrote: Rain should definitely proxy gate game 1. Would be hilarious
Honestly, i'm just curious, will herO paranoidly scout this time or no. + We don't maps right now, so it's harder to predict Rain's proxy gating on Alterzim for example :D

Last time he played Battlegrounds after Blizzcon, can't calll it as big loss because PartinG was just on top of the world this particular weekend.
i think herO will pvp his way into the final, even though sOs took him out last time i think he fixed his minor issues such as scouting for cheese so he will do good
Im hoping that Zest and Rain make it out, I have enjoyed watching Zest lately, and Rain is just my favorite protoss by far. I would be fine with anyone making it out however, really good protoss group.
considering how well they've all been playing, hard to believe that two of them are done after tonight =x really rooting for sOs to win and keep piling on the prize money lol
$O$ wins easily I think but Her0$ better show us better games than at IEM if he wants to have a chance. Its PVP's right till the end for him so he better scout those proxys
Since its ro8 and no longer groupstages, will all games be uploaded or is it still set 1 only? I currently live in new york right now and don't want to wake up at 4 to watch
I am such an avid $O$ fanboy now after the shit he pulled at IEM.
I liked him during his quirky builds in WCS Season 1 last year, but then went off him as he was just a bit stale for a while. But his ability to kill fan favourites and look like the SC2 version of Dexter whilst doing it has won me over.

We only have one in the GSL Ro16 and none in WCS EU, NA or the other tournaments. But we definitely see more PvP then TvT and ZvZs combine. Which was the case during GomTvT as well as the Lings of Liberty era.
Wow ruthless GOM putting hero and $o$ on today xD Bit harsh, they could of played their half of the bracket Friday and pushed the others to today so they had a bit of rest
Boneless meat, which can be a bit fatty, but is full of flavour and ideal for any ... as loin chops, don't always get quite crisp enough when pan-fried or griddled.

Considering that Life probably had similar flight schedule, they would only have had PartinG vs soO.

Well Life didn't get to the final thus he shouldn't get preferential treatment
Don't you know whether GOM and SpoTV will do any feedback threads like they did last year? I really want to suggest a radio stream for EU audience at work. I don't know how others, but I just listen to the stream anyway.

Don't mind that guy, he was the one that was saying how sOs is bad whole IEM long, even when he won in the finals.
Typical sOs, wins 100k tourney and flops for months in a row afterwards. However one must remember he had to travel around, all while Zest was at the comfort of his home practicing only PvP for weeks.

He does rely heavily on his builds but that doesnt make him a bad player. I'm almost certain if he had more time since IEM to practice he would have been able to come up with new builds and not the EXACT same ones he used at IEM.

After one case it's now called typical, lol? And he wasn't as bad as was painted in preview on Battlegrounds.
I feel like $o$ is dealing with some combination of jetlag, lack of practice for Zest, and not necessarily taking this match super seriously (he's not at risk of Code A, he doesn't have anything to prove against Zest).

I don't know how being down 0-2 the day after winning IEM Katowice is flopping around for months in a row afterwards.

He was still good. There was no big tournament to compete in and no leagues. His first round in PL was bad, but he's doing well in R2 too.. Not being able to showcase the skill doesn't mean he doesn't have it, yes?

WoW was a huge step forward in the genre back in 2004. Flappy Bird was helicopter game except more frustrating. But I digress, this thread is about how $O$ can't play two tournaments in a row.

not too surprising, Zest played really well today and had tons of time to prepare for the match and watch the IEM games. sOs didn't play to his usual standards but he has some good excuses for losing :3
herO vs Rain may go similarly, though not as quick I think. herO may try to play safer but if Rain is playing as well as Zest did he should take the series at least 3-1.

I don't think you realise what playing an event which lasts 3 days, where you're at it for 12 hours for 3 days, while your partner is at home, probably watching all your games, and what kind of impact that has.

BL, dude. :-/ Last time I played a random (P) a couple of days ago, it was a DT rush. I thought it was blink and chronoed out Immortals and had no Observers when they hit. Insta chrono on Robo but I lost a number of probes and died to follow up Chargelots/Blink Stalkers when I tried to counter a little later with Stalker/Immortal. Good game though, in the end.

You're an idiot.
And why's that? After he cheesed herO out of 100k, he got labelled by many as "the best player in the world" simply for winning the most money.
And he just lost 0-3.
Because he won 2 from 3 tournaments which can be considered as world championship in 4 months? He's not best player overall, but he's best performer from everyone. Clutchers were praised always.

Dude, he is a mind game player. He win because he study his opponent and I don't think winning both, Blizzcon and IEM Final was just about cheese or luck.
Btw, don't judge player on one serie. You will be wrong whatever you say.

because, a) he's just bitching about sos and he would bitch whatever result came out. If there is no possible option that would make you change your mind then you're just biased. b) one series does not change anything. c) It's irrelevant what people think about sOs. Whether he's the best in the world or whatever. He is, however, clearly a great player.
guys. it's obvious. herO was a god because he scraped by all of his opponents when they make crucial mistakes. however when herO makes crucial mistakes and gets crushed it was because his opponent is bad still and herO deserved to win.

Nexus first by sOs on Frost, Zest opened with stargate, Nexus fell, Zest brought his one to play, sOs transitioned to double-phoenix to counter immortals, engaged worse than he could, gg'ed.
sOs-herO game on Alterzim happened next in reverse, except Zest hadn't gone Nexus first.
And on Daedalus again sOs engaged badly, lost more than he could for single nexus, gg'ed almost instantly.

People are hyping jjakji since his switch to EU like he's our new God. I still wonder why except for thing that he has 90% winrate on EU ladder. But he just doesn't perform. And Oz was godlike in PvP like forever :D Still.

sOs got outplayed here and Zest is a talented player and deserved to win. Yet many are undermining his victory with a bunch of excuses for sOs.

please dont put some trolls and the rest of us CJ fans in the same category. herO lost to sOs because sOs prepared well and did what worked to win, making him the better player in that particular series.
Also I would imagine he d be pretty tired coming back from Poland two days before playing a GSL match.
I hope herO fares better against Rain but at any case, what matters is the win, not how you get it.

thats not true at all btw. Having Adblock is sometimes a security issue. There are lots of viruses transported over ads, as you might know: PCGH.de, a german newssite for PC tech had issues with ads several times, having to inform their users that they having a virus if they were not protected by adblock. Also I already caught one on TL a year ago, so: it is NOT about not supporting eSports, its also about security, saving bandwith, NOT supporting some ads. Also you can activate Adblock for some sites, like specifically TL. But then again, sometimes I wonder why I should turn it on, the ads sometimes have NOTHING to do with esports, games, computers although I am on a site for that.
But its wrong, that you don't support Esports with using adblock, they rather should protect the user with having a safe way to use ads and include them into the stream in a better way

No matter how you put it - the reason doesn't matter. The result is the same, basically stealing away money that could have been generated. If you have tech issues and security issues, I will advice you on getting better security besides adblock. Someone that wants harm to a broad community probably isn't relying on the user not having adblock to begin with.
Ofcourse you could donate, subscribe etc pp to channels which would support esports as well, but if you do neither of those things, you are enjoying free content without contributing while you could. You don't generate a ton of money, but little bit helps as well, especially if its thousands of viewers.
Just imagine you invite people over to your house and you are paying for the meal + drinks. Anyone could either give you 5$ or not, in the end if everyone decided to not give you shit, you are in the negative... if only a few people gave you something, might at least be break even.

I wasn't really impressed by Life at IEM. His counter attacks were hurting him more than actually benefited him and he was generally very wasteful with his units. On the Yeonsu game he had around 55k resources lost in a 30min ling-bane-muta game. Even though Maru's TvZ is not his best I feel like Life will need to step it up a bit to win.

You are also not supporting eSports by that. One of the guys that don't realize money is actually everywhere in the scene, we can push it ourselves, but prefer to not give money to the scene we enjoy while it doesnt cost us anything!
But its wrong, that you don't support Esports with using adblock, they rather should protect the user with having a safe way to use ads and include them into the stream in a better way
IEM and Asus Rog events show a better way to do it.
I use adblock everywhere simply because they're always too in-your-face and irritating. Twitch ones are the worst as the volume is so loud. If they were more discreet maybe I would unblock.

thats not true at all btw.
But its wrong, that you don't support Esports with using adblock, they rather should protect the user with having a safe way to use ads and include them into the stream in a better way
I'm sure the majority of people turn on addblock because of security reasons, not just because they're annoying.
Getting viruses from ads isn't annoying right ?
same for me: its mostly because it is annoying. but I would turn them back on for TL, if ads wouldn't be a threat as well. I can bear the burden of having some popups on ONE site, if I then support it. Doesn't matter for what reasons some ppl turn on adblock, but there are good reasons so that is enough.

1. I am not stealing money by not watching ads 2. If you put it that way, I could also argue, that the extra power a pc sucks while loading, rendering ads etc, though it is almost not measurable, takes away MY money, also generates pollution etc etc (If you sum it up to several tens of thousands of users). Stupid argument, I know, but not untrue. 3. I am donating and subscribing(since I earn my own money, I can afford a few $ here and there), I just don't like Ads because of many many reasons, but to sum them up again: have limited internet, have had security issues BC of them, the are annoying(if they pop up or load vids in the background), they slow sometimes the loading of the page or block your vision etc, 4. I have adblock, firewall, router, 2 antivirus programms, avorax antispyware, anti-malware, spybot, use most modern versions of the browser etc. Fun fact that have a lot of other PCGH.de and TL users, still they got the virus and me and all the other adblock users as well. Even the site recommended using adblock for a while, after that occured. And it generates the income ofc over the ads...
But lets get Back to the game, we can discuss that via PN

Yeah. I feel like we're in a period of time where the players are so good now that these things don't work as often as in MKP's heyday though. D: For a long period of time MKP seldom got punished, but today, any small details are noticed and punished by other players.

GOM is trying to crowd fund via their 80$ tickets and got 8k so far in like 2 months. They dont seem to understand that thats not how it works.
Their Gom invitational thing will be a WCS Tier 3 event at best, which is hilarious to me, because it will have all regional champions fighting for like 8k or something

I made those because people in my clan wanted to show appreciation for my skill level at the time, and there were a number of people who were interested in joining it as you know but my now-friend Plexa was not impressed with it at the time.

You can't compare Dreamleague and Code S, seriously.
You just can't simply compare viewers base + DotA 2 compendiums/crowdfunding tickets give so many nice things that almost every itemfapper get them. And what can GOM make for you? Bucket of ramen? I, for example, didn't buy Dreamleague's thingy because noone of my friends purchased it and i had noone to play with in fantasy.

Zest and sOs skills are pretty similar at this point but Zest preperaded much better for this series then sOs. Its not only the jetlag its also the time they had to analyse each other game styles and making buildings to counter. The same could be say about Rain vs herO.

Yes, preparation is always a big part, especially in PvP where BOs is very important. Having said that, I am sure Zest and Rain would have taken the trip to IEM to try to win the $100,000 as well.

Zest can fight above his weight class when it comes to PvP.

It's not really that surprising.
1. sOs had jetlag+couldn't prepare long enough 2. The games against her0$ don't tell us much about about his skilllevel, because they were quite silly 3. SCII has a lot of variance to it, so that even champions are just marginally better than non-champions in the long run. 4. Zest is PvP bonjwa (70%WR)

Hmmm I heard that sOs played a bit more games than the ones agaisnt herO. But I may be wrong here!

Also sOs and herO were not only travelling, but played lots of public games to be studied by Rain and Zest, who have arguably the two best teams behind them when it comes to preparation. I´m not surprised at all by sOs going out 0:3, but by herO managing to make it close.

I'm sure sOs is absolutely devastated about this loss...
Infact, I managed to get this close up of him backstage following the games:

Yeah I was very suprised by how close Rain and herO's series were as well!! I expected herO to go out one sided as well. Happy to see him do so well =)

sOs is like boxer, comes up with crazy builds all the time and wins when people don't expect him to, then loses in SL right after winning a title just like every BW champion ever except maybe Flash, Jaedong, and Jangbi.
Why would you ever hate him when he always wins and loses in spectacular fashion?
to be fair, sOs and Hero doesn't have as much time preparing against Zest and Rain. They were competing on other tournament, while Zest and Rain had the time to prepare builds specifically to counter their opponent playing style.

Inconsistent? Ro8 in the GSL is actually really good.
I think the lack of a true champion hurt the sc2 scene quite a bit. We need someone to consistently be #1 to create hype. Much like Boxer or Flash of bw.
Is there some kind of playlist on twitch I can click and watch all today's vods? I don't like to look them up and play one by one, especially when the games are short.

Ya getting back to Korea 1 day before his Code S matches after flying from Europe has no effect on his play right? The scheduling really fucked over the players that went to IEM (herO and sOs) because you could definitely see it in their play. I'm assuming you didn't even watch the games just come in here to bitch about the results.
It's a shame I would've loved to see what they could've done on a couple days rest but whatever. Good for Rain and Zest.
Lol, haters will just jump on any opportunity to talk shit, despite the facts that sOs was jetlagged and had far less prep time than Zest. I'm sure sOs is perfectly happy with his 100k

I remember that time Seed literally came off the plane from IPTL to win his WCS Korea 2012 match. A God.

Yeah that was pretty awesome. I miss Seed, he signed my wallet at IPL Team Arena finals or w/e in San Francisco, awesome dude.

am i the only one who feels the jet lag excuse undermines not just a players win but the game itself?
everyone has ordeals to work hard on before a game, some we know about and some that we don't. jet lag may or may not have effected the result. if you choose to believe that jet lag was a deciding factor, then that is your choice, but make no mistake, it is an assumption.
i hope they can someday address the issue of jet lag by allowing more time for players to adjust if only to lessen the amount of people all of a sudden talking about it when a favourite player loses.

That´s because "deciding" to believe jet-lag were not a factor would be plain silly.
i'm sure it was a factor but really just unfortunate timing, herO and sOs made their decisions and knew the ramifications although it did suck very much that their flight got delayed

I don't know, I'm kind of with senqa on this. There are countless out-of-the-game factors probably weighing in. It's no use trying to justify one player's loss with only one likely factor. Maybe Zest had a confusing gay dream about Flash, was so mentally shaken that day that he forgot to eat his morning cereals, but still played better than sOs. That's the way it's must have been.

True, we don't know what factors may have been affecting Zest. But we know for sure that jet-lag was affecting sOs to some degree, and as someone who has a difficult time dealing with jetlag, I can empathize with how difficult it would be to step off a plane (merely traveling long distances is exhausting) and suddenly compete against top-tier competition in the most difficult tournament in the world. Not to mention that Zest had a lot more time to prepare while sOs was fighting his way through Katowice, and on top of that was privy to inspecting a bunch of recent sOs games to try to find holes in his play.
Zest may have had a bunch of problems that we simply don't know about. However, assuming both players are taking their GSL match seriously and thus would try to be as ready and in as good a condition as possible, sOs had no choice but to be affected by a bunch of obviously detrimental factors, while Zest, as far as I can tell, had a lot more freedom to be fresh and ready on his match day. The main point here is that although we can't know anything for sure, I find it a lot more likely that sOs had more skill-independent disadvantages than Zest on their match day due to their contrasting situations (just got off a plane after playing in a foreign tournament for a few days vs. living in a team house in those same few days and getting to just sit there and prepare, perhaps even analyze sOs's games)
