They do lead to exciting games but only the first few times before everything is figured out and it just seems predictable and cheap. you don't make more money from gold bases, you make the same amount of money with fewer workers, which allows you to saturate gas/tech up more quickly (or simply hit earlier timings with builds that rely on a lot of low tech units) if you actually made more gas income from a base that would change the game to an insane degree. can you imagine 2 base muta with an "extra gas" base? and protoss would be able to tech up even more while turtling | ||
