Shouldn't the objective with HotS have had the opposite in mind? Can you please tell me your master plan of defeating late game/skytoss without them? SH is simply a symptom.

It's not like *EVERY* PvZ ends up this way. Do you want the game to have absolutely no macro-style games at all? Lol. I'd say Crank had as much chance to win that game as Pig - Pig played better and fewer critical mistakes.

You can have macro style games without it being long and drawn out and incredibly boring like that. Just not in SC2 because no Zerg units trade efficiently against the Protoss deathball but SH and BL

Also I wouldn't call that a 'macro' style from pig, its more just a 'turtle/mine out my side of the map and let Protoss headbutt me' style.

He likely individually selected infestors for each fungal instead of allowing smart cast to do it for him. I doubt a lot of people noticed but it was really good.

SH is simply a symptom. where is this "swarm hosts counter skytoss" thing coming from? strictly speaking swarm hosts are the counter to templar tech. vipers counter colossus with abduct, templar counter vipers with feedback, swarm host counter templar by zoning them out. skytoss midgames are countered with queens to tank damage and infestors to fungal clumped air units. the static defense turtle style is something that zergs just figured out they could abuse and started doing because there's no drawback to it. yes, zvp lategame is a clusterfuck. protoss lategame deathballs are ridiculous. so is swarm host/static d. it's a design problem. but that doesn't make swarm hosts more fun to watch or for protoss to play against

I thought it was quite impressive.

I have no master plan nor have I considered fixing the problem to any degree. Blizzard has a cadre of arguably the best and most creative minds in the business, a business in which literally anything is possible. I'm sure they could come up with something more exciting than this while still solving the problem that the SH supposedly solves.

I thought it was quite impressive. i'm not trying to say pig is a bad player. clearly he's very good, and clearly crank was playing sloppy for some reason. but that doesn't mean that pig didn't get a lot of mileage out of the style he was using and the fact that it has no direct counter if the zerg plays correctly (spines in the main, good caster control, etc). protoss doesn't really have a reliable mechanic by which to "outplay" what pig was doing.
