Dreamhack never disappoints. And speaking about Nathan.. that guy is a fuckin good caster man

if only SJOW would end up in finals... it would be MASSIVE!

gateway allins can win a dreamhack, obviously.

How does Dreamhack do this EVERY BLOODY TIME. I honestly felt that the entire tournament was subar all the way until round of 8 but damn if it isn't incredibly hard to even remember that.
To few games on mainstream Far too much downtime Really bad conditions for players on second day, esp for Swedish players with SM which knocked Thorzain and Naniwa out. Asked way too much of the 3 casters on day 2, 16 hour day... Bad bracket system, come on Dreamhack ROUND ROBIN FFS, less games to cast, more important games, never have to ask a player to play a pointless game, no ties, makes score being decider etc. Best of 3 all the way to a best of 5 finals...
That aside HOLY SHIT what a round of 8 and forward, Sjow and Stardust breaking out in a big way which some amazing series. Regardless of all the issues I had with the tournament this time around it was still an amazing event and Dreamhack somehow someway ends it with such a bang.

While on that train of thought, props to Dreamhack for stepping up the production and dealing with all technical difficulties and clusterfucks from day1... which were really quite poor. Day2 was pretty solid, from what I saw, and Day3 was pretty great what with the way events transpired and SC2 being on the main stage on the final day. Awesome to see. Crowd was great.
And Stardust gained a new fan. This transition from Broodwar kinda confusing what with a lot of player name changes I had no idea he was m18m in BW (beat Flash, beat Jaedong, when both were bossing BW)... did pretty well for Air FOrce ACE. I love his playstyle... his reactions to Jaedong's aggression timings were fantastic and that warp prism mass DT warp in was HUGE and necessary at that time or else he could have given Jaedong more of a window to take that map. Plus the probes taking down that extractor at the very end. Great Final IMO even though I was pulling for JD. Well he's showed he's been stepping it up... still needs to work on his ZvP but his improvement has been marked and this will make him even hungrier to WIN an upcoming major tournament, even though second is a fine achievement... still has room for improvement though. but his ling runby's, secret speedling aggression out of nowhere... seeing shades of his former dominant BW self more and more. If he can just get more comfortable beating top-level [Korean] Protosses... his ZvZ and ZvT frankly is good enough at this moment from what I've seen to call him a top-level Zerg even with his WCS failures.

Day 3 was great though yeah and agreed just go Round Robin... even CS:GO has adopted this format for the first time in CS's LONG history. When you have to start worrying about round differential and coin flip situations... ugh

Not completely gateway allins, you should also include 2 base robo all-ins. Terrible finals, im not fanboy of dong although i hoped him to win, we saw once again the power of protoss 2 basing of hots play. Its so boring to watch and you know even before the game has started that its gonna end in 15 minutes or so. What gives me hope still for sc2 is games like, the zenio vs cure today on SPL. We need more of that and less of that all in play.
I'm just speaking my mind that i ain't entertained by that kind of play, even that its the most efficent way to play it.

But, but, but David Kim said Protoss can't harass..What happened? Tons and tons of dark templars warped everywhere, sniping base after base before the zerg could even try to react..Something doesn't sound right.

I think you guys have it backwards. What they used this time was a round robin system, where everyone in a group plays everyone else in a group once. What you want them to use is a double elimination system for the group stages, like how WCS did their groups, right?

We need more of that and less of that all in play. I'm just speaking my mind that i ain't entertained by that kind of play, even that its the most efficent way to play it. Game 1: JD tried a Speedling all-in and it fails. Sson smartly counter-attacks as he knows that JD won't have the economy/tech required to push out of a contain. JD survives by throwing up desperation Spine Crawlers, but that only stunts his economy/tech even further whilst Sson takes a third base. JD desperately tries to counter attack, so Sson crushes his front. Not a 2 base all-in, at least not by Sson.Game 2: Straight up 2 base 7 Gate all-in. 2 base all-in doesn't work.Game 3: Sson goes for his signature 3 base Immortal/Sentry/Zealot push. JD goes for Mutalisks, which are a pretty good counter. JD screws up the base-trade in a billion ways, but mostly by not building more buildings out on the map. Probes win the game for Sson. Not a 2 base all-in.Game 4: JD does a Hatch-cancel Roach/Ling all-in. Not a 2 base all-in, at least not by Sson.Game 5: Sson again goes for his signature 3 base Immortal/Sentry/Zealot push. The push kills JD's third base and significantly stunts his economy. Sson follows this up with mass Dark Templar warp-ins that force JD into a base-trade with his Swarm Hosts. It turns out that Dark Templar and Zealots kill buildings faster than Swarm Hosts. Not a 2 base all-in.JD did more 2 base plays than Sson did in this series... You got a point, but i didnt quite explain myself. If you backtrack M18M's previous games trough the tournament you will see a LOT of 2 base play.
And how come its 3 base push if he just expands when hes already marching trough the map? It's not like he uses 3 base resources on that push its just the continuation. You could say its a 3 base play, but he actually just expand when he is attacking right?
|
which is what some people do to secure the expansion. if the zerg uses too much of his army to try and kill the third, the protoss kills the zergs bases.
