ToDs extra bases were somewhat nullified by him headbutting his units away allowing Stephano to at one stage being in a superior position DOWN in bases to ToD.

Seeing a creative player getting abuse for being innovative annoys me so much. /rant the only reason he won with this strat was because he was so fucking far ahead from early game... not because he was doing aggressive stuff.

If ToD had added in tempests to slowly pick away at everything then that whole strategy makes sense. Honestly Stephano would have won the game if he hadn't taken that horrible fight at the end because ToD had no money and Stephano's unit composition beats his. Basically this. Stephano lost due to losing his infestors without getting a chance to use them. If he got even a half decent fungal with Swarm Hosts in position, ToD would've just died. He had no money in the bank because he lost so much of his ahead economy by just throwing zealots into a blender, and losing templar again and again.

If you're actually arguing that Tod couldn't have afforded four colossus in that late game scenario then you probably need to rewatch that game. And if heavy mutalisk switch is your concern, keep in mind that stephano had a severely limited economy for most of that game AND tod would have still have a ton of archons/storm lying around. Just because you have colossus doesn't mean you forgo other good lategame protoss units (like archons and templar)

I disagree with this. The advantage was gained in the early game taking out Stephano's third (twice?). He then was a base up the whole game, eventually culminating in an inefficient conclusion. He didn't even have a Robo Bay or Stargates in case his army was crushed. Had he been caught out of position, I think he would have been in major trouble.

It was frankly brutal to watch. But isnt that the whole point? To keep him defending until he is out of resources? Tod doesnt have to worry about efficiency as long as he denys bases

Then I looked at the standing and see that ToD needed 1 games to advance while Stephano already has advanced. Stephano's so nice.
