I think it is for the whole season. I have had mine since Round 1 and i can still watch VODs and full quality xD
The previous game has wrong on longer than scheduled is all, the EGTL match will start in about 10minutes from now as the other SPL match has just finished.

I believe it does.
At the start of round 4 I think Coach park said EG-TL would need to win 14/21 matches to have a chance at the playoffs.
So far they're 4-5
I thought that was assuming that the teams above them don't move up in the ranks though. If eg. Samsung starts doing better they're still screwed. But at least they can make it interesting.
so 10 more wins needed with only 2 losses allowed to even have a chance of getting into the playoffs? Sounds like even the magic of Coach Park won't be enough to make this happen

going 10-2 would put them at 21-21, which might not even be enough considering their horrendous map score.
i think EG-TL would want SKT, KT, and WJS to do as well as possible and the results between KHAN, STX, CJ and T8 to be as even as possible
Does KeSPA use the automatic sending of workers to the minerals at the beginning of the game? (Sorry, that sounds awful but I couldn't think of it's official term) Seemed like manual splitting to me.
Why does Revival keep being sent out? I understand hes a great player but he just does not collect wins. They should also keep the all kill format, Much prefer it over the other one. On another not gogo EG-TL!

I hope they continue both styles. All kill so boring when that is all that's done. I prefer switch on and off, normal proleague - ak, normal - ak- etc. Hope they keep this (I know they did more like normal - ak - normal - normal - ak).

I think the custom map they use doesn't have auto mining.

I like how Revival went for the Mondragon school of ZvSkytoss. I feel like he needs some infestors now though, Free has close to the critical mass of void rays to demolish any zerg army, and Colossi will crush Revival.

Sniping a couple extremely expensive units at a time is one way to deal with an army that is this cost effective in a ball.

No there are not, lol. You have a mass hydra vs air army with cannons in the way. You know he has to go colossi next. Vipers is the answer.
No idea why Revival is committing to that Nydus location so much. Can someone explain why Revival, after seeing that many cannons, didn't shrug, pull all his shit back, and just Nydus on the left side of the map?

God, it all goes back to Revival's first attack. Chasing probes around randomly. Targeting one nexus to half hp, than targeting core for a few hits, then spreading everything to get killed by voidrays.
If he'd taken his initial units in and focused the main nexus, while rallying lings to kill third, he gets twice the advantage and crushes free 5 minutes later.

he had mass HT. You won't make it through the storm and whats left over will be cleaned up by void rays, which are not bad in direct combat vs mutas.

Not necessarily. It depends on the amount of cannons and how many stalkers the Protoss is able to warp in, also depends on how many mutas the Zerg was able to make and how many mutas they lost in the engagement. That's the idea of a muta switch though.

I completely agree. I'm not even sure that Flash/Rain/Innovation are all that fantastic either. Proleague is fun for the story and the maps, but the gameplay usually feels pretty lame.

I haven't noticed the new Liquid shirts have way too slim font saying "L i q u i d" on the back. It's hardly readable on TV/stream. If someone watches for the first time and doesn't know what he's supposed to read there, won't be able to.

Yeah seems like the pressure got to Snute. Proleague is SC's oldest and most storied team league, I would be pretty freaked out as well for my first game as well.
That being said, I have no idea what he was thinking with that build. Did that really ever work in practice?!

Some textbook muta corruptor (with the corruptors zoning out the phoenixes as per usual) could beat this potentially. So could a very well executed roach/hydra
or you just do what Revival did: use Ling-Roach aggression to take an early lead. And then not screw up the follow-up by attacking the most fortified position with Hydras but instead abuse the mobility Nydus gives you
I don't get these mid-game SH transitions, I really don't. They never work, you can't make that switch without a good amount of static def and casters to turtle behind. SHs take far too long to amass to critical numbers to be viable this early, it leaves a giant gaping hole in your build where your army is fucking terrible and the protoss can just walk in and curbstomp you.
SHs are great, in the late game, in high numbers. Anywhere else, they suck.

Snute isn't even a Top 3 European Zerg IMO. His ZvZ is Top 3 among foreigners (probably only matched by Sen and Scarlett) but his ZvP and ZvT have REALLY let him down at places like IEM.

Imagine a burrow roach timing, similair to what Leenock did vs terran in WoL (double roach warren). Would destroy that protoss build!

That's what revival did and even though he did damage it still put him behind. Eventually you need to deal with the flying damagedealers ground to ground attacks only go so far.

They are better vs corruptors. Also nexus cannon helps secure an earlier third.

It works well in combination with Vipers, Anti Air and Infestors for Fungal. If you make Vipers and don't throw away all your Infestor energy and half of your Infestors for an attack that wouldn't work even if your opponent was afk. I have seriously no idea what Snute tried there -_-

Revival's attack was terrible.
He brought a nexus down to half hp, then pot shotted the core, then spread his units out to die to void rays. He should have done way more damage than he did. If he had done it right he may well have won the game from that advantage alone.

Voidrays are better in hots then in wol O_O.
Well, they don't deal extra damage vs non armored units anymore (charge over time), such as hydra. And hydras are supposed to be a counter to air unit, while moving faster than before. So, yes, I don't get it.
What the serious fuck are we watching between games. Is this normal/acceptable anywhere in the world? Is there somewhere in the world where this doesn't cause seizures and confusion?

Yep, and the hydras lost because they werent there... hence Void Rays > Hydras! clear logic!
Both Revival and Snute got Swarmhosts after trying a bunch of stuff that did nothing. Since this unit relies on cannons to secure the 3rd, wouldn't it be better to get SH first to pressure and deny the 3rd, then get other stuff?

Their general DPS uncharged was also buffed (attack speed).
Apparently it is not good to slowly creep your burrowed infestors into a cannon wall with 10 voidrays camping above them.

Voidrays got a flat damage increase as well as being better vs corruptors. In WoL making void rays was even worse than making hydras. So they definitely got better.

You don't seem to realize perhaps that VR still do more DPS without the charge, because their default attack rate is higher than in WoL?

While it sorta made sense in the start, the korean training got vastly got underrated. The way i saw it was to see if they could score enough points before they got caught up. A team that has players flying all over the world the whole time will simply never be as good in this kind of league system compared to players that stay in 1 place to practice with each other the whole time.

Corruptors were bad against void rays in WoL too, just not quite as bad. What changed was that infestors in WoL would shit all over VRs so hard it wasn't even funny, 3/3 ITs and instant fungals = lulz.

While this game fascinates me, I admit it's not one of the absolute best ever played. free's micro was incredibly sloppy at times. Jaedong's decision-making was poor in many places and incredibly passive.
This game also is valuable because it demonstrates one thing free was (and occasionally still is) known for: unstoppable late-game play against Zerg.

Look at the pattern for EG-TL's losses. So often players (revival and jyp especially) fuck up good positions in the opening game and EG-TL has no momentum. If you think that this doesn't affect the other players, you are dreaming. Ever played a team sport...? -_-
HerO and snute didn't play well but how you can blame HerO for choosing a build that was hard-countered? Sure, it wasn't a good build but he hardly chose that on the spur of the moment. They have coaches, you know. If you're going to do well in this league, you have to close out games.

EGTL have had their fair share of fuckups this season, but they're not getting humped every single tie. Looking forward to next season to see if they can up their game.

I think he knows that they have lost and is just trying to build up confidence for the next season.

HerO chose badly there, in fairness, but he's been pretty faultless in PvP lately with his decision-making, you can't get it right all the time.
I wouldn't be surprised if Proleague has been a huge money pit for EG-TL.
Yeah they really went all out on those uniforms.
Doesn't cost simply joining Proleague money? All they did now was using it as advertising.
i wanted to put my alarm on 10.30 to catch the whole match but i missed it :> just got up and saw stream was still online on TL and thought "oh cool it cant be 4-0 if theyre still playing now" T_T

I wonder how many people will actually question Coach Park. People seemed so fast to blame the players for the losses and say that "Coach Park had to do with what he had : sloppy players" but in this case... ?

It looks more like they don't think they can make the play offs and are just giving people experience/letting others not have to practice for pro league.

I honestly would be surprised if they stick around for another Proleague season. The only scenario I see that occurring is if Proleague and GSTL merge in some way and it creates some hype. I wouldn't be surprised if Proleague has been a huge money pit for EG-TL.
They won't stop competing. If anything the practice is really paying off for their players and that's what they'll get in return.
How is the practice paying off? JD would have been way better off on T8 and none of their players are performing any better
The practice environment is better than no practice environment? Also Jaedong made 2nd place at Dreamhack whereas he wouldn't even have been there playing for 8th. For people like Revival, Alive and Oz who wouldn't have had an environment at all this is paying off hugely.

By getting all-killed?
I never said it was a good decision but sometimes it works (remember Hero vs Rain?)

Because every kespa team would just snipe taeja, hero, alive jaedong every PL match?
But it works so well for Prime ^_~
to be fair, what else do you expect Prime to do?
Atm just wait for the trade lock to end and grab decent Kespa contracts, but they were a really team once they could have built on that with giving newer players more exposure so today they have more than four players.

I don't really get why JD would necessarily have been better off at Team8. Perhaps he might have, perhaps he's reinvigorated by a stay at a foreign team and going to foreign events.
JD is looking better of late, (aside from ZvZ which has been good pretty much since he switched) so he must have found the motivation and partners to practice from somewhere.
Blizzard's logic is pretty funny, they cannot make LAN so they make an entire new feature to help when dc happens, instead of just providing local server to bigger tournaments.

Actually restart from replay is superior to LAN. LAN can still break down, power outage can happen. Restart from replay will work anyway.
As for the casters trolling - this is pathetic. America/NA number one country/region in SC2. That would be funny if it wasn't popping so regularly here and there.

don't be blind, everyone knows why they are doing that, and developing the resume from replay thing is 100% more cost efficient for them then letting piracy/second-hand market happen.

People have this ridiculous idea that when koreans join EG they stop practicing and just sit around or play LoL. Nevermind that JD is one of the hardest working people in all of esports, know for his insane practice regime.
Newsflash, Jaedong still lives in Korea and practices with other really good koreans under a korean coach, regardless of what the logo is on his shirt. If anything, Jaedong having the stability and financial backing of a very well-financed team can only help.
Edit: what the fuck, Wombat, seriously, stop making me type like a caveman.

Yes, definitely superior, but i wonder, how much less dc's would we get overall if they were just playing on lan. I know it is an amazing feature, but dosen't make sense, when you could just provide local servers to atleast WCS partners.
Btw, don't know why 90% of the GSL and SPL casters are americans when you see the level of their players and the number of EU viewers. It could be cool to have more europeans like Khaldor to avoid the "we" when they talk about america or make cultural references (like baseball, american TV show or thing that are just only known by americans).

I am not sure if you heard, but when IEM was running pre-HOTS, Blizzard provided local servers for that tournament. There was a catch however - each server had to be guarded by two armed guys all the time. I doubt anyone would go into that every time he wants to do tourney.

well, i'd say they are mostly americans because english is their first language and the US has a much bigger scene (and population) than the UK or Australia
People please, don't act like you didn't know why Blizzard doesn't allow lan. You can bash them all you want, or criticize their business policy, but please be aware that it's the choice they've made to fight against piracy and second-hand market. There's no going back on this one.

I was thinking this as well. It also makes sense to have more european casters since the majority of viewers are europeans at this time anyways.

Finding casters without horrible accents and a varied vocabulary is hard enough as it is I think. Personally I prefer a nice, neutral US accent over everything else, although UK can be decent also. Most non-native speakers don't have the language skills to cast in english.

I'd be more interested in a Kor vs Kor winrate. Fair bit of foreigner bashing mixed in there I'm sure.
What matters is that JD himself doesn't think he has bad ZvP, he is confident and says it's above average, only his televised matches often looked bad so far.
Why're they saying it was starsense? Seemed more like JD went blind allin whilst sOs just... reacted when the lings showed up - his opening was pretty standard.
Oh well, atleast EGTL can play the rest of the season without any pressure. They can use this oppertunity to let the players get more confortable with broadcast matches.

Without Taeja, they can't do too well. Taeja is kind of like a freelancer, he only plays when he wants to. Teamliquid must have a different contract with him than HerO.

That didn't stop him from playing any individual leagues.

hopefully not though, we've had enough Protoss like that..
Would not put my money on it. Plowing through Code S for one season is one thing, but simultaneously also plowing through PL shows real substance.
That's true, but at the same time Puzzle also did very well in online tournaments (RIP) and pretty decently in GSTL as well.
Anyway, I'm not really ragging on Puzzle here, but Protoss has had a lot of players who performed well for a little while, got hyped as if they were the best player in the world and then proceeded to disappoint for months on end. Other players here would include Sage, Alicia, Tassadar, Oz, Brown, Parting, YongHwa, First etc. Of course, some of them have recently managed to break out in very convincing fashion (but they still did experience a pretty long "slump"), while others have long since fallen to the wayside. :/

nah of all the protosses you have mentioned, only PartinG emerged as a serious title contender. The rest somehow performed well here and there (mostly GSTL) and got enormous unjustified hype:
-Sage: played one aggressive, Bisu-ish game on TDA and disappeared -Alicia: a truly solid toss at his peak but nothing more, came with the SlayerS hype, faded with its scandal -Oz: use to have geat PvP iirc. he sucks at it now dont know why -Tassadar: 4gate allin w/e -Brown: up & coming, fluke into a code S and disappear (hes coming back though) -YongHwa: mediocre as hell but somehow Artosis got his back. Code A Ro36 material -First: decent Code A protoss. He has the potential to break out though -Puzzle: almost the same as Alicia, got wiped out of Code S at his peak (by Bomber iirc)

See it depends where you're looking at.
If you're only looking at GSL, then sure.
But if you consider the big picture, Alicia got 2nd in NASL, MLG and MLG Arena; First got Top 4 and also 2nd at MLG, 2nd and 1st place at IEM; YongHwa got 2nd at HomeStory Cup, Top 4 IEM, 1st at WCG Korea and a few all-kills... They're really good now, but they've been hyped ever since 2011 and failed to deliver for a long time.
Puzzle will be back, he really is the archetypal 'solid' Protoss player, and he's back in a good practice environment. Even when the SlayerS shit was at its peak he still put in solid performances in GSTL.

Alicia hype dates back to at least GSL May, where Artosis called him the best PvT on the planet after sweeping the group with fan favourites NaDa and MarineKing.
All of the IM Protosses have been hyped due to one thing or another that Artosis saw (on ladder or in GSTL) or heard (about their practice winrates) even as far as back as the period I mentioned, just not in a big way. He predicted them to break out as the next big Protoss player, which took about a year to come to fruition (except for Ready, who has not yet accomplished anything noteworthy)

They're really good now, but they've been hyped ever since 2011 and failed to deliver for a long time.
lol exactly.. they got 2nd place in foreign tourneys but thats about it The actual good ones like Liquid Hero multiple tournaments
Let's not forget HerO was also one of those hyped up, up-and-coming players ever since he was on oGs, as long as half a year before he actually won anything. But yeah, he's one of the few who truly delivered.
hopefully not though, we've had enough Protoss like that..

To be fair, if you look at the number of foreign events they have been to compare with HerO, their results stack up very well with HerO.

Actually restart from replay is superior to LAN. LAN can still break down, power outage can happen. Restart from replay will work anyway.
As for the casters trolling - this is pathetic. America/NA number one country/region in SC2. That would be funny if it wasn't popping so regularly here and there.
Yes, definitely superior, but i wonder, how much less dc's would we get overall if they were just playing on lan. I know it is an amazing feature, but dosen't make sense, when you could just provide local servers to atleast WCS partners.
Maybe I didn't say that clearly enough. Restart from replay is superior in some way. LAN is superior in other (fewer disconnects and a lot less lag). But I guess LAN vs Restart is like SC2 vs SC:BW.

You can and should ideally have both.
Having LAN capability would allow a pro match to carry on completely unhindered even if one of the players' PCs ends up randomly disconnecting from Battle.net or even the Internet altogether. It would also get rid of dropping issues by casters that are, again, due to BNet or their connection not being up to par.

In an ideal world that'd be great. So frustrating when you can't even play single-player only parts nowadays without being online. Happy birthday as well man!
The only reason free is doing well is because I picked him for my anti team. You are welcome free. Happy Snute was sent out though I have to go back and watch that later.

i guess ideally there would also be no piracy haha

Puzzle was a solid player for a long time, up until he left for LoL, and now that's he on KT, we may see more of him still.
You can't really call Puzzle mediocre though. He's always been a sick teamleague player, as well as a very solid player in the GSL (back to back Ro8). He also the only Protoss Code A champion, so while MC was the Protoss President, Puzzle was the Protoss Vice President.
The only reason why Puzzle had so few foreign tournament results was because he almost never went to compete at foreign tournaments (which is really sad, and probably will continue now that he's on Kespa). He went to NASL 3, got invited to Red Bull LAN but couldn't make it, and other than that, there weren't many LAN appearances outside Korea while he was on Slayers.

Ideally, everything will be free, so no need for piracy.

I hear there's a dozen hobos that sometimes hang around.

Uhhh not sure if serious? I don't have a twitch subscription so I can't see the VODs to see if there's a studio audience...

I was joking. Yes, there's an audience, but it's usually not a big one. Not nearly as big (or as fanatical) as in the BW days.

Thanks for the answer. Not really concerned about the crowd size, just want to go watch and possibly get pictures with the players.
