I like how pros die on maps I consider totally in favor of one unit composition, but they rather stick to their basic style. And even though the game goes on for 1 hour, they don't change anything while knowing they are cost inefficient.

I don't know about "balance", but I think if PvZ keeps developing this way, we're going to get away from these maps where Z can sit their swarm hosts in one location and defend all of their expands and also be offensive with the locusts.
