It's a really easy composition to beat, you just stop around 4-5 colossi and a-move in. Tempests are virtually dead weight after killing colossi. Grubby however had a horrible position and his colossi were walking backwards, it's the same when vikings/corruptors somehow force colossi back. You lose badly because they didn't do their damage before dying Won't your Archon/Zealot ball roll everything that's left after the Tempests kill the colossi? Seems like it's a matter of positioning and micro to get more shots off, but that's not the same as it being awful.
Grubby could easily have just as much archon/zealot with equal or better upgrades. Tempests don't work well because they have a hefty investment cost (fleet beacon is super expensive) and the side with colossi is better off than the player with tempests really. Grubby just played stupid by going into double robo and not transitioning into zealot/archon himself. Double robo is risky in PvP now, it's good in robo wars but seeing a robo doesn't mean at all that the other will actually commit to colossi like happened here. Grubby just played really bad strategically after he was into a good lead. This happens often when I see Grubby though, a tactical and not a strategical player.

That depends, Grubby has to beat krass too.

To be fair, part of the reason why they're not used ZvP is because holy SHIT are void rays good against Zerg. Don't really need tempests! And even the threat of Tempests basically removes the Broodlord as anything other than a very niche unit against Toss. They don't even need to build them, just their existence in the game means that BL ZvP is basically dead.

Yay Babyknight. Cool play.

I am reasonably confident about Stephano beating Babyk, not as much as 6 months ago but enough to give that prediction. I think KrasS has a better opportunity against Grubby but it isn't exceptional. BabyK is really capable of upsets though, so I have to allow for upsets.

wow, I just had a total brain failure. I was taking a quick shower after the Grubby-BabyKnight series and when I came back I thought: "hey, let's check if a game of the Winners' Match was played already. Let's check the op, I can see the results there..... errrrrrrrr...."

Ha ha, thanks for doing quite a few of these LRs recently!

What goes on in the mind of a professional? He probably never faced 2 base with tech to fleet beacon. Probably never faced tempest in PvP. Because you definitely don't go mass collosus. He even pulled back his collosus during the fight which was a big mistake. Tempest can continue siege-ing the Collosus. He should have just brought his Collosus to fight and at least cleared BK ground army. But that was some cute play by BK. Grubby probably was dumbfounded by that build. Don't know if you watch Grubby's stream, but a surprisingly high number of his pvps end up with HT/tempest wars (relative to most players), so he definitely should know what to do. But you're right, he played that game out reallly bad. If he could replay that I'm sure he would do something completely different

ZvP is stephano's mistress, sure that he could get a 4-0 sweep

What bad joke did Babyknight make?

You lose badly because they didn't do their damage before dying You can have 4 tempests (16 supply) and they will deal with 6 colossi (36 supply) way faster than 12 corruptors (24 supply) and then you will still have the bigger ground army even after the colossi dealt full damage. Also the tempest won't die compared to corruptors and are at least a little bit useful after the colossi are dead compared to corruptors.
Tempests are only a bit better than corruptors actually. 2 corruptors cost the exact same as 1 tempest and do pretty much the same DPS (if you're using corrupt which is easy on colossi). HP is also quite similar, though tempests are obviously better once the colossi have died. Tempests take a long time to make though and have a heavier investment cost, Grubby should have exploited that by using his range colossi earlier and/or expanding faster.

Just came in, how was Stephano vs KrasS?
