Tough group (aka: 2 koreans) ....I think she can beat Oz, but it will be close. Her ZvP has never been her strong suit. Violet too we've hardly seen him in HotS but if he's anywhere near his level in WoL, he's probably the favourite to top this group.
The only question is: who will assume LR kpop duties with our resident kpop expert out doing battle??
Sucks that I won't be able to watch this live anymore since I'll be at work. How long does it usually take them to get VODs up? At least East coast viewers will be OK...maybe? Are they also moving the other WCS leagues to accommodate other regions or is this an MLG decision?
kind cool how far Scarlett has come. She just narrowly lost to Oz in her debut, now she's (arguably) favored to go against him now. Its pretty cool imo

I think I've heard that Axeltoss is taking a break from casting SC2 due to wrist pains.
Well that sucks.
Would be nice to have TotalBiscuit again as a 3rd caster.
I can't let you down like that, Axeltoss isn't in pain, just on vacation, that was joke because of the Scarlett thing that gets asked 35 times in every LR thread. In any case, he'll be away for a bit.

I think it was decided that barcodes couldnt play because that's what her account was. I think Illusion said he had a barcode up there, too.

I just remembered Oz was the one who knocked out Scarlett during her breakthrough run at IPL way back. A rematch would be pretty cool to watch, especially considering how much Scarlett has improved since then.

Can you really outproduce the mutas? Even if you build phoenix, if the zerg just builds more mutas and a few corruptors, the phoenix dont even deal with the mutas all that well.

I think many zergs have gotten slightly complacent with ZvZ, expecting it to just be muta vs muta almost exclusively. A good reminder that solid timings still work just fine.
Zergs going muta don't try hard enough to scout all ins in the current meta imo. Its very difficult to hold without time to prepare as resources are banked for the muta's.
I don't really get why as even on ladder all ins are non-stop in ZvZ.
ZvZ has the potential to be cool, but as long as there is no real muta micro a la BW, it's basically going to be all about ramming your muta flock into your opponent's and hope you have more.

It doesn't need much to be awesome again though. Just needs hydra, infestor to become viable and sometimes only a subtle change can allow this.

Not a boring game at all I would say. Very smart play by viOLet, his initial attack was slightly better and that contaminate really sealed the game. The muta vs muta fight was just a formality, the game was over before they engaged. WP!
Also Aligulac stats seem to say Oz vs Scarlett should be about even. The big difference in chance for 2nd game comes from 20% chance for Oz to lose to State, that contributed ~15% to Scarlett 2nd and takes away ~15% from Oz chance to get 2nd.

Did State play in NASL Season 1?
He didn't! You're right! I was misremembering IPL Season 2. He played Void Ray Archon against Goody's Mech and lost. But he adapted well.
6:40- State's Nexus finishes, Oz has had his up for longer.
Oz has a Stargate up, his second Stargate is scouted by State's Hallucinated Phoenix. State going Robo with a twlight finishing up shortly.
8:20- Blink started for State upon completion of his Twilight. Oz poking with his phoenixes and baits a Photon overcharge.
9:20- State throws down a double Forge, shortly after Oz starts his Robo. 1-1 started @ 10:20. Dark Shrine also down with Charge started @10:40. Chargelot timing incoming?
11:13- Oz's Robotics Bay completes, researching +1 and throwing down another Robo.
12:00- State sneaks some DTs into Oz's main and natural, snipes a few probos and manages to snipe the Pylon powering both of Oz's Robos.
Oz remaining on Robo tech and throws down a third Nexus around 13 minutes. Phoenixes return to poke and kills quite a few Probes at the natural. Oz sends his Phoenixes over to the main where he gravitons a few Templar. Nice snipes from Oz there.
Both players on 3 bases vs three, and similar supplies. Oz throwing down his Templar archives around the 15 minute mark but continues double Collosus production.
16:15- State attempts a bit of a recon poke with his stalkers, loses a few to Collosus lazers but blinks them back to safety. Both players posturing a bit, Oz moves out to the watchtower in the middle.
17:30- Oz researching +3 attack, State currently researching +2 and +3 armour. Oz has no armour or shield upgrades.
18:00- Big engagement! Oz comes out second-best against the heavy chargelot + upgrade army of State. Oz attempts a chargelot runby to buy time but State goes forth and into Oz's base. Oz ggs out.

Around january of 2012, he went on record saying "PvP is all skill. Anybody who thinks it's luck can play me and I will prove them wrong."
He then went on to have literally a sub20% win rate for the next six months. It's mostly improved now; he's won some decent PvP's, but it was probably the most hilariously mistimed statement in SC2 history

Sadly it seems in this game if you show a positive mentality towards a matchup, you will start doing terribly and have people make fun of you for the next year.
Oz is now a ward of the State and must now do community service for the crime of being beaten by a Murican. There are many port-a-potties in Korea to clean now Oz!
That was really smart play by State, honestly. Not making a DT at his base with his first warpin would have cost him the game, and he still decided it was worth it to send another DT after one was shut down. That, plus his engagement (with a really risky I thought aggressive blink) was what won him the game. Yes Oz messed up, but State definitely played well.

I believe it is more general than just this game. If you talk the talk but can't walk the walk, everyone is going to make fun of you (or just ignore you if you're low enough on the game's hierarchy, which was not Oz's case)

I wasn't making fun of Oz. I thought he was amazing. I still like him, and he was the kind of guy you WANTED to do well. He made PvP exciting. It was just extremely ironic? (not sure if that's the perfect word...) that he slumped the same time as that statement.
If anyone of you missed the start of the show: Scarlett and Oz made a bet that Scarlett would get a third of Oz anime collection if she would beat him. Sadly that match got denied.

replace scarlett with hydra. And he said a hydra doesn't have legs
I don't understand why state only had like 2 colossi at a time, vs that many swarmhost and having 4 bases secured he should have had templar/colossi and then add in voids or even just pure colossi/templar will beat it. Really silly play by state that game mass gateway units +2 colossi well never kill that army.

Yeah, really need some air to at least zone out vipers or preferably HT, and eventually storm. His timings to try to get on top of the swarmhosts and kill them were VERY bad in both games. They were literally as the locusts were spawning...and he saw this every time.

Yeah he's right. Nothing to do with gender. Also he was talking about hydras running with tail between legs but a hydra doesn't have legs was what he said. nothing to even do with Scarlett
On May 08 2013 10:34 Whatson wrote: How do you fight that? Lots of templar/air transition?
Queens own everything air. Even if you get some feedbacks off, it's hard to have enough gas to have a meaningful army. If you can't get lucky with a base trade scenario before they end up with a lot of swarm hosts, I don't know if there's anything you can do as long as queens provide invincibility.

Not at all.
Broodlord Infestor is frustrating because you can almost never do anything.
This game is frustrating because there are a ton more things that you can do, and State isn't doing them.
Eh, games that get to a state where one player is massing one unit + static defense are usually pretty boring, even if you can beat it. I don't enjoy watching Thorzain camp on ghost/viking anymore either.
Anyway, congrats to Scarlett and props to State for beating Oz. The two best players advanced today, so we shouldn't complain.
Sucks that State lost, but he did have a pretty good showing today, upsetting Oz. 6 Zergs advanced today in WCS KR, EU and AM. This day truly belongs to the swarm

"Running away with one's tail between their legs" is a common idiom that means "running away in shame", don't think it was influenced at all by Scarlett's gender.
Thx for declaration. Well i was aware about "Running away with one's tail between their legs", and I would never assume he meant it in an offensive way against scarlett (neither did i, as stated), but i found it kinda funny how he corrected himself with something like "well where the tail shoulda be" or "...normally is", which then made it really worse then better... if you know what I mean. Ofc he didn't think of harming Scarlett, more like correcting himself and making it worse then better or so. The special situation about her, makes this mistake hilarious, especially because it wasn't meant in an offensive way and we could then take it as a joke. It wouldn't work if he meant to be mean to her, but as a mistake he didn't want to make and didn't want to be offensive it's kinda funny. If you know what I mean (sry 4 bad english)

Well... Look at the opponents for all the days games. If anyone thought a different outcome, they were kidding themselves.

When she hit 25 SH, ur fucked no matter if u go skytoss. Its baserace at that point, multiharras baserace. I saw Soulkey in code S, did similar against Protos semi skytoss and still won. 100 spores and 100 spines+100% SH+viper.. is death. Gotta take the engagement sooner or multiharras everywhere (no skytoss). The later u engage with whatever composition, the less chance u have.
the problem of SH-build is that is sux in defending at multiple places at once and is weaker when not enough static defense is present.

wasn't he talking about the hydras?
oh. Shame on me then. Thought he meant Scarlett or Scarlett's army. Because State cought a lot of Zerglings and they were trying go get out/run away, so i thought he meant the Zerglings/Army of Scarlett so... i thought he meant Scarlett, not her Hydralisks. But then again, i could have misheard, bc of my not so perfect understanding of the english language

Eh, Flying lost that game only because he messed up. He needed a few more tempests and not to get all of his HTs killed for free, and he would win.

Could be, but i had the feeling he had no chance at all after soulkey had setup and could have gg-ed 15 minutes sooner
Does anyone else have major slowness trying to watch twitch TV's past broadcasts for WCS? I had to just give up watching and check the results because it was so frustrating. I was trying to watch at 240p and it was STILL too slow to watch in a constant stream. Extremely frustrating considering they just moved the start time of WCS NA to a time when it seems like a lot of NA is still working and can't actually watch.
