Ruin just walked into that, he just let Lucky sit on his fast 3 bases and go up to Hive without pressuring him at all. Haven't we learned anything about Zerg yet? If you just let them get to Hive unhindered you're not going to have a good time.
Protoss is known for being able to punish Zerg and stop them for going Hive tech. Oh wait..

This, Pretty sure Viper has some good counters like tempest and high templar. Maybe protoss actually has to scout now for what zerg is going for instead of just making a ball and try to attack before broodlords

What if you make a bunch of speed warp prisms, pick your engagements and then when the vipers come forward you scoop them up and fly away, feedback all the vipers as they move forward, bring your warp prisms back and safely drop the colossus back behind your army?
2 years from now. I feel it.

YAY new units! I have a smile on my face just from the fact that abduct is now in the game. Beta is over. No going back now Blizzard!

He loves to give his younger players a chance to gain exposure, it's worked pretty well in terms of some of those younger guys now winning titles (Yoda). I'm sure if team leagues had bigger audiences/prize money than the individual leagues it might change.

Quick recap:
+ Show Spoiler +Fast 3 hatch from Lucky, Ruin went for phoenix play into 3 base colossus. Lucky hit a (I imagine will become) standard hydra-viper timing and won easy, abducting Ruin's colossus.

Colossi should be able to hit air to balance that Abduct thing

Less Colossi is always good. Then maybe Blizzard will rework them (aka: remove them and add something else instead :D) for LotV.
On another note, I like the soundtrack this season.

He saw Lucky's vipers and continued to make Collosi. Not to mention his Phoenix opener did literally nothing. Roach/hydra/viper is really cost effecient against Collosi based armies but it has a pretty fast timer. As long as you can turtle it out and Collosi aren't the central base of your army then you're fine.
It seemed like Rain didn't really understand the risks and proper transitions of his build. Could have been poor scouting as well, it's hard to tell without replays.

Did not look that closely, but people here say that Ruin basically botched his timings by going fast charge instead of quicker storm. this and his bad position in the fight sealed the deal - even though I too have rather big problems in PvZ, especially on smaller maps when I open phoenix and they go hydras I won't do anything with them and will be behind big time. If I commit to more than 4 phoenixes I am dead as collossus are way too late. Seems not that P favored to me as some made it out to be

He played well in the preseason. Letting inexperienced players get experience makes perfect sense unless you want them on your b team forever.
I think he would have been in a good position to win that had Lucky not attacked with Vipers before he had HTs to feedback. His mistake was focusing on colossi and getting charge and researching storm before warping in a few HTs—with them he could have sniped Lucky's Vipers, rendering his army impotent against forcefields and 2-3 colossi.

Anyone know what that last song was? was really good.

Oh wait, the templar have to feedback vipers to stop them from ruining the toss army? This is what it felt like to play TvP in WoL and i didn't see toss complaining.
|
What is it with the pauses today..? Guess we'll be sitting here for a couple of hours.

Need to see that build out of a protoss that Artosis did earlier on stream. Khaldor also talked about it. Looked seriously broken if executed propelry... but it may be boring to watch
|
it's good that we have another counter to colossus, it was way too one dimensional before

Nice and subtle.
I like that colossi have another counter now but it might be too hard atm, we'll see.

If I ever have to watch BL/Infestor Protoss edition in professional play I'm out of here until LotV.
