After getting a decent amount of feedback from the community yesterday regarding a 2v2 tournament, I figured now would be the time to just get a little bit of word out there and see what kind of response we can get. Pending the interest we get for this, I will be running a monthly tournament with a $100 prize pool. If we can keep things popular I may start to set up a ladder system for seeding going forward.
For this coming tourney, it will just be a play for a guarenteed seed to the HotS tourneys going forward. So this is a call for any teams from any leagues. Seeding will be done according to current league ranking as well as personal potential. For example. If a team of masters players are currently playing in bronze 2v2 they will be seeded vs other masters players rather than bronze.
This thread will be the current sign up sheet until I can get a permanent tournament name and website up and running. Cutoff for sign up will be Thursday, the 28th at Midnight pst.
**UPDATE** 2/26/2013. We have currently filled up all of our current roster spots.

General Rules
-All teams will meet in the SC2 Hybrid League channel. Please ensure it is spelled exactly as it is listed here.
-Teams must consist of exactly two (2) players, no substitutions will be permitted.
-All matches will be played using the most recently released version of the game.
-Players must provide their own valid Starcraft II Battle.net account.
-Any team found using third party add-ons, altered game files, or modified drivers that changes the game mechanics or provides an unfair advantage will be disqualified from the tournament.
-It is the team's responsibility to be aware of, and follow the posted schedule for the tournament. Failure to be available on time or leaving before all your games are played could result in a game forfeit or tournament disqualification.
-Matches have assigned start times, and any team that has not checked in and cannot be found within 15 minutes of the posted time will forfeit that match. Match start times will be updated as the tournament progresses, depending on how quickly we get through the games. It is the team's responsibility to be aware of times of their matches.
-Two (2) forfeits during the tournament, either intentional or unintentional will be taken as a team's refusal to play and they will be disqualified immediately.
-In the case of battle.net, network, computer or power failure, any affected matches will be restarted from the beginning.
If a match becomes impossible to determine a winner based on the content of the game play, the match will be restarted from the beginning.
-Either team in a match may restart the match once within the first minute (60s) for any reason.
Should a game be restarted from the beginning, the new match will be played on the same map with the same races as the aborted match. Should a player have selected a random race for the aborted match, they will then pick the same race as was chosen for them by the randomizer.
-Any Team may dispute the results of one (1) of their matches during the tournament. They must do so immediately upon completion of the match before starting any further matches, and provide the tournament organizers with a replay file and the reason for disputing the match results. The case will then be adjudicated by multiple tournament officials and the results either deemed valid, force a rematch, or reversed entirely at the discression of the tournament officials. The officials may request a replay from any players involved in the match. Since replays are recorded automatically, failing to produce your replay file will likely result in unfavorable judgement.
-There will be no communication (either battle.net or otherwise) with players outside of the game while a match is in progress, and any conversation with an opponent must remain civil.
Tournament Format
-Teams will be seeded based on current sc2ranks as well as consideration for personal achievements.
-All rounds up until the last round will be BO3, with the final being a BO5

-Molten Crater (Blizzard)
-The Boneyard (Blizzard)
-Magma Core (Blizzard)
-Lunar Colony V (Blizzard)
-High Orbit (Blizzard)
-Desolate Stronghold (Blizzard)
-Tyrador Keep (Blizzard)
All maps must be current map pool versions.
Lower ranked team will make first selection.
Losing team will always select the next map.
Prize Pool
After talking with my colleagues, we have decided that we will be hosting another tournament for the end of March. The prize for the top 4 teams will be placement into the second round of the first HotS tournament as well as the top team will win a $50 prize.
Match Details
The date of the matches will be the 2nd of March and the time will be 12pm Pacific time. All matches will be played on this day. Each Set will have a 2 hour block for the set to finish. Should sets end early and both teams be ready to go, the next round may be allowed to start early.
Region
All matches will be played on the NA server. If help is required for swapping servers please add me on skype and I will do my best to set you up with the regions button for your client.

Im working on it! Im hoping to make it more of a steady thing since there aren't nearly as many team based events. I have an idea I would also like to try out at a later date. However I am going to keep that underwraps until a better time ;D

Ive got to say. I am more about giving back to the community. Obviously it will be rather difficult to provide a larger pool to interest some more players but Im sure going to try. Any littlest bit of help in any way. Prize or even help with the posts will be a huge help as I am doing this on my own.

You don't have to use all Blizzard maps you know. There are some good community made maps out there, like Tyrador Battlements (which is a symmetrical version of Tyrador Keep), or the maps in this tournament. Maps like Mokura and Kuihtuneet often make for good games.

Yeah I was looking for some but I think there has been some issues with some maps due to the update. Some custom maps have had triggers break.
So I am just waiting till expansion and things get a bit steady before hopping into community maps.

To be honest I really wasnt expecting the turn out we are receiving. I would like to add more spaces but things will already be a bit tight as is currently due to some work interviews and I think having 5 rounds might take more than a day. Im not sure if the current signed up people would be alright with breaking it up or not.
Never fear! I will be trying to run these a bit more frequently in order to support the community.
My next tournament will span over two days and with a bit of luck and interest support up to 64 teams. I have a set of casters for this weekend's but I will try to incorporate another set and have potentially two streams running. (Similar to MLG format) That way as many teams as I can swing will get some air time.

The biggest issue I had is sc2 ranks wasnt working quite right and nearly everyone is masters or gm.. I was hoping for a bit more of an even spread.
But atleast you two are in the masters range. Better chance than some people.

Due to the wonderful turn out from you guys and the interest shown throughout the community via casters, sponsors, players etc, I am proud to announce we will be continuing on the league full time starting the end of the month. you gusy probably should use other maps besides ladder. every 2v2 thread says that map poo l sucks and they would like new maps (citadel gaia) yet every 2v2 tournament never does it.
