2 player map with a back expansion. but its a TvT so maps don't matter as much lol.
but players scouting, taeja getting a slightly faster gas than skyhigh. nice wall of from taeja, but theres 2 entrances into the main?
and taeja going for a proxy fact in the middle of the map! and skyhigh is going for a proxy expansion :O
hellions moving up to the high ground to take out allllllll of taeja's lined up marines, empty bunker and now skyhigh is running his hellions into the main base, taeja is pulling scvs but they aren't helping too much! he's trying to expand to the back but he is so so down in army supply, omg but wow
wow amazing micro from taeja and he manages to kill all the helions, marines and the landed viking with some hellions.
BUT skyhigh is now gonna come in and he has his OWN cloaked banshee!!! so skyhigh is getting a lot of kills here, taeja has no scansssssssss!!! :O
BUT Taeja's not giving up! he's going for a drop with hellions in to skyhighs main but doesn't do too much damage
but now skyhigh is moving in with a lot of hellions, and they all do some damage to Taeja's economy before dying.
now more hellions moving in lololol.... taeja has vikings which are doing a good job vs hellions, even with some nice micro tries to stay alive but thats GG
This is The fabled no excuses lineup. If they lose here there's really not much left to say (except for Stephano's ZvZ I suppose, but that's a coaching thing and thus, still no excuse

I am also confused, where does this come from? Why should Taeja lose against Skyhigh...
TvT, Taeja's injury could have affected practise, Skyhigh is a Kespa player and therefore better at preparing for something specifically... there are a lot of factors. I wouldn't expect it to be a straight up game that Taeja would probably win, cause why would they allow Taeja to play in his comfort zone?

So the usual "Kespa players are better in the PL format/prepare better" thing, then I think Taeja will do just fine. I thought maybe Skyhigh was some kind of tvt master I did not know about.
Edit: Taeja's injury might be a factor but it didn't seem to affect him in gsl, but Skyhigh lost his last 5 games, 3 of them being tvt.

Action on the anti playing herO and Soulkey who are on the main as well as Jaedong, also anti, against herO tonight. Gah PvZ, you're killing me.
On another note, I don't like EG-TL's chances at all tonight. I think Effort's ZvZ is elite and Stephano's is quite frankly poor, and HerO has no easy match against Hydra. Revival probably should win, as well as TaeJa, and I think the two Protosses are favored in the final matches of the night. JYP and HerO are the huge ones for both teams. If either team wins both, I think it's done and dusted, but I think we're seeing the ace come out if those matches split.

Keep effort's infestors in his base so that Stephano could win a fight at the front or get free drones depending on where effort decided to send his infestors
I'm pretty sure the Drones weren't attacking. He was just trying to stop the Lings from getting a full surround on the Hatch, not that there were actually enough to do that.

If EffOrt can maintain his lower Drone count consistently, his army will be larger than Stephano's, thus have better engagements with Roach/Hydra/Infestor. Problem is, Stephano's bank is larger, so his army will have the better remax capability than EffOrt.
couple of Mutas are always nice even if they don't do eco damage, you get almost all the ovis and deny alot of vision. Hope Stephano won't lose, he had a small advantage all game long.

And drones will turn into free supply combat units once Stephano is maxed with a bank. So being low on drones is pretty bad and you have to attack into an equal army with spine and spore support. Of course having more drones opens you to a timing. But not really if you have them all game long.
Hmm, effort dropping roaches before he really needed to, I think he was trying to mindgame stefano into believing that his broods are coming sooner then they actually are.
I feel like if it's a long drawn out fight Stephano wins because of the bank. If the fight last only 5 seconds the Effort will win because he has less drones.

Yeah thats what I said basically. And the better fungals don't r eally matter when Effort has almost double the infestor count (okay to be fair, I'm not 100% sure Effort used all the Infestor energy before they died), the only thing that mattered was that Stephano had much higher Corruptor count and thats why he won even though he fought inside Efforts spines and had 35-40 less army supply.

Effort had way mode hydras, but the fungals prevented them to go under the broodlords.
Comon its funny, Stephano answers question in English, we all can hear what he says. So I dont know what they hear but if they tell us what SStephano said it does not match.

If they're unsure they should talk (about Stephano's answers, not some random shit like they were) during the korean rambling but not during the English parts. The casters completely ruined that interview.

HerO forgot to research warp gate on time
Regardless, once warp prism failed he should have gone for a 3rd while taking out the 4th of Hydra, possibly with a zealot attack while defending. Allinning was clearly not gonna work.

Oh, wow. That's not good. How could that happen, hydra didn't put much pressure on him in early game.
I'd like to mention Hero's done the forgot WG thing before. I can't remember where but he did that against Stephano once on Entombed Valley. He won that game if I'm not wrong
I know it was a big mistake not to upgrade WG earlier, but did it really matter? He had it in time when the mutas attacked his natural, and when he had enough immortals to push.
Hope this map is gone soon. Only chance you have as Protoss is that the Zerg goes for Broodlords. You can of course try to end it early, but not a good idea to forget warp gate in that case. The Map is quiet interesting for TvT and TvZ though.

Warp gate can be a critical part of warp prism harass. Without it it's not very effective, especially when there's no sentry to FF the ramp.

1) It's nowhere near 40 minutes way to over exaggerate 2) The main broadcast is for TV so they have longer commercial breaks then most leagues yes. 3) Don't like it then don't watch it, no need to post stupid shit in the LR thread.

Thanks. Good point.
I've been watching SPL a lot, but not GSL. Hydra's build seems rather fresh. Is it a new meta to counter immortal pushes? Better mobility to force good base trades for th Zerg? Easy for sniping WP or immortals?
Skyhigh's first game of the season looked super strong. He hasn't done so hot but I'm still clinging to the hope that he's gonna become awesome any day now :D
taeja does block the scout from skyhigh but now he's also building a proxy starport! looks like he's going for Cloak banshees!! skyhigh with a reactor barracks and a factory up now, but he's moving his marines to the front of the his base and the banshee is on the way,
skyhigh scouts it though!!!!!!!!! snipes the tech lab before cloack finishes! the banshee is gonna go into the main but skyhigh is still building marines and has a viking so the banshee dies before anything happens.
hellions moving up to the high ground to take out allllllll of taeja's lined up marines, empty bunker and now skyhigh is running his hellions into the main base, taeja is pulling scvs but they aren't helping too much! he's trying to expand to the back but he is so so down in army supply, omg but wow
wow amazing micro from taeja and he manages to kill all the helions, marines and the landed viking with some hellions.
BUT skyhigh is now gonna come in and he has his OWN cloaked banshee!!! so skyhigh is getting a lot of kills here, taeja has no scansssssssss!!! :O

MC used this build against MC's immortal pushes 2 nights ago. The SPL game wasn't representative of the usual game as Hero forgot warpgate. Basically you make some mutas and hit their mineral lines and force the soul push to come kill you. At the same time you make 15-20 spines at your natural, sac your third and kill as many probes as you can. If the build is too sharp though (i.e. Parting) it probably won't work though.
On February 16 2013 13:51 Zzoram wrote: The decision to fly that Factory back across a path that made it super likely to be scouted is mind boggling.
Its truly something when sending marines down a narrow corridor when there are obviously hellions out of the map is not the most mind boggling play in a game
Lack of practice on Bifrost for Taeja? Such a wicked map, though! Imba it may be, it's one my favourite maps in BW, from a spectator's POV. I expect it's hell to practice on, gotta check for all the nooks and crannies for proxies, and weird timings not possible on other maps.

Absolutely ridiculous play from Taeja*
The rest of your post is idiotic.
Like hero forgetting warp gate or revival getting not even responding to his opponent not taking a third? Supporting this team week in and week out is just getting pointless.

I don't believe so. Murray's good, but just loses. Anthony's massively overrated, and everyone's surprised when he loses.
Screw you EGTL coaches, stop sending those players because yknow where is IDRA, the second he arrives EGTL is #1 blahblah. Not trying to troll, just emphasizing the stupidity of previous coach bashing - it's totally not about it.
JD just made so many mistakes after a decent start.. He overcommitted to mutas, he didn't scout stargate tech properly, he took the longest time in making corruptors which easily rock phoenixes, he was unable to handle the multitasking herO imposed on him.. Really poor play, JD's time is running out, he's simply not keeping up.

Hero forgot Warp gate and therefore delayed his all-in way too long
Taeja just made tons of mistakes, the factory move was just wow and moving his marines on the edge thing when he knows there are a ton of hellions on the map was also very WP.
Jaedong just fell apart from the Phoenixes and tried to counter it with Mutas.

BO loss implies some sort of blind decision in his build that caused him to lose. JD was operating on full information that Hero had gone stargate, and had plenty of time to alter his build. It was a decision error, not a BO loss.

EZ-TL will fall to dead last if STX Soul win their next match. This from a team with at least 6 members who've won major championships, and well over half a million in tournament prize winnings. It actually boggles the mind they could perform so abysmally.

Ace players from other teams will probably fly all over the world also. Such as Parting, herO, Flash, etc.
Now, with Taeja back in Proleague and back in form, there are no more excuses. The best of EG-TL has assembled and with a lineup of TaeJa/HerO/Stephano/Jaedong/JYP/(Revival/Puma), we can no longer blame the coach if they lose.

I don't think they will fly as much as the EG TL players. Kespa teams have PL as their prime focus. They will likely only go to MLGs (PartinG will go to IEM WC since he qualified already).
EGTL - Sad but ok, its still a foreigner Team "lol". Lets hope they can get their shit together, but a poor performance still.
Casters - I dont believe anymore what they are talking. If their "I heared what stephano says and I will tell the audiance" is that...they just talk bullshit too if they translate Korean questions & answer. Will just keep muting them now after the Games too. Just no reason to listen to their fantasy.

They're like IM in GSTL to be honest.
Great players, but I don't think they're having a good time with the team format. :S
Nah, the EGTL players are well known, but they aren't better at this point.
Happy that stephano won his game, but the games I saw (taeja and jd) were just sad. Taeja got a bit unlucky but floating the factory home like that where it easily could be spotted felt really... Meh.

Ace players from other teams will probably fly all over the world also. Such as Parting, herO, Flash, etc.
I don't think they will fly as much as the EG TL players. Kespa teams have PL as their prime focus. They will likely only go to MLGs (PartinG will go to IEM WC since he qualified already).
Uh... In parting's contract, it states that parting is free to fly in foreign tournaments.
yes so? free to play in foreign tournaments doesnt mean he will play many of them.

Kespa like any profit based organization primarily wants to make money. If they think the exposure players like parting gives to kespa by flying to foreign tournaments outweighs their use in proleague from a financial perspective then theyll fly him all over the world every week. Since exposure is very important in todays scene it would be surprising if they didnt send him to most of the big events, not just the mlgs. However I still think the EGTL aces will travel a bit more (and stephano wont stay in korea forever I assume).
Glad to see Stephano won. He has a pretty impressive record in ProLeague. Certainly doing his part for his team. Unfortunately the team as a whole did not deliver today.

EZ-TL will fall to dead last if STX Soul win their next match. This from a team with at least 6 members who've won major championships, and well over half a million in tournament prize winnings. It actually boggles the mind they could perform so abysmally.

I agree. Even if some of them do still posess a small skill advantage over the average proleaguer, their attitude (or whatever it is), is costing them. But as time goes, Kespa practice regimen will make sure EG-TL is below average even skill wise IMO.
Wow... how could it end up completely the opposite of general expecations ? Like.. Stephano winning a ZvZ and HerO/Revival/JD/Taeja losing....
Sad for EG-TL, but at this point, I'm not quite expecting that much from this team... Each time I thought "right, they'll put a performance next round, they need a bit more preparation"...

Overpaid players who've covered themselves in glory elsewhere, but can't work as a team and are far less than the sum of their parts? Ya sounds pretty familiar.
Unlike England however, these guys haven't got carried by foreigners to their trophies, they've earned them on their own, which makes it all the more baffling.

I stopped watching Taeja's game when he started to float the factory back to his base, literally directly across the path of the natural flow of skyHigh's army. Again, a sign of lackluster preparation. He would have been better off floating the factory INTO skyHigh's base for scouting, and it wouldn't have raised his opponent's suspicions nearly as much, as a floated proxy factory has been standardish at some points in the metagame for scouting purposes. How does the team not catch this flaw in the build?
I get the distinct feeling he didn't practise that build so much...or at all........

You're making your grand comeback from injury against a terran on a 5-match losing streak and 0-4 in TvT's. You probably couldn't ask for a better opponent to ease your return to Proleague.
Do you:
a) Play a straight-up macro TvT and go for the safe win since you're one of the best terrans in the world right now b) Go for standard hellion/cloaked banshee harass c) Go for a high-risk, cheesy, weird proxy factory/starport for hellion/cloaked banshee harass
If you picked c) you are Liquid.Taeja. Unfortunately his opponent chose b), blundered into c), vaporized his hellions/banshee and then wiped out his SCV's with his own hellions/cloaked banshee (literally, there were like 10 SCV's left alive.)
Seriously...how are you supposed to make useful predictions about Proleague when this happens?"

I don't believe so. Murray's good, but just loses. Anthony's massively overrated, and everyone's surprised when he loses.
Oh yeah, SC2. I was thinking about BW for a moment. To me, Fantasy is the Andy Murray of BW. So much talent, so much promise, but always fall short at being champion (especially the last OSL with a near perfect run before falling to Jangbi - again). What's that term again? Oh yes, konjwa.

Doesn't matter, because he'll always be a kong at heart. Murray went straight back to being 2nd best in the 2013 Australian Open. He might've overcome his silver-streak twice last year, but his default mode is always 'not quite enough'.
Seems like EG-TL's time is over. They had their chance at the beginning of the season when the Kespa players were still learning the game But questionable coach decisions made them throw too many series
Right now, the premises are different. Anybody who followed BW knows how absurdly good these Kespa players are and as we can see they keep getting better and better. EG-TL finally brought their very best lineup but still lost in a convincing fashion.
They can still win series in my opinion, but the chances of winning keep getting lower due to the improvements that Kespa players are making

All this talk about kespa dudes now learning the game and owning the rest is such a nonsense... both sides have all kind of players at all kinds of levels...
how hard is to understand that kespa players give priority to SPL above all and are simple better teams... They are more prepared to deal with the SPL kind of style, more prepared to fight in less orthodox ways and prepare themselves better against their opponents.
SPL is not so much about the individual strength of players but more about the study of the opponents and the preparation for these combats... Even a C player can beat an A player if he studies well his opponent and prepares the correct way...
EG-TL aren't a real team yet and they are lacking preparation and the focus on this... Hopefully they will pull themselves together and show their real strengths...
So on twitch when you click more videos it never works like it did before. That happen for anyone else? I tried a couple browsers so it must be twitch server. So I cant see any of these games since they happened first and are older

Bad excuse imo. (Even though there probably is a substantial difference in how much the kespa teams and EG TL value PL.) How do you account for the fact that Jaedong (3 osls, 2 msls), Flash (3 osls, 3 msls) and Bisu (3 msls) are also the best PL players of all time?

The two bolded statements speak for themselves. Taeja knows more then you do, therefore chose a build that he was comfortable with. Unfortunately for him and the EG-TL fans, Taejas build was scouted and he was punished hard for it. Also to the person stating that it was Taejas "lifted moving factory" that caused him to lose. It wasn't Taeja's factory, it was the direction his SCV came from which resulted in SkyHighs decision to search the top. Another thing to keep in mind was the SkyHigh was already preparing for early banshee harass well before he scouted the Starport, and was most likely saving scans because he's familiar with the time the cloaked banshee harass should hit.

Yeah, that's why there are more KeSPA players in GSL Ro8 than esf players right now, when most of the mid tier players still need time to climb the GSL ladder to show their skills. If they really care about GSL, where do esf guys go?

He was being sarcastic lol because Puma was usually fielded and was always a "free win". So, he's like "No Puma"? "WTF is this?" as in the coach is actually making better decisions.
It feels like the issue here is either coaching problems or a lack of focus on Proleague. The KeSPA players are really strong, but EG/TL's roster should be strong enough to consistently win games. Taeja, Stephano, Jaedong, and HerO can all compete on this level, but seem to be underperforming. Either the coach isn't preparing them properly for the matches they're supposed to have, or he's choosing bad matchups for his players.
The other option is they aren't really focused on Proleague due to HoTS coming out, lots of international tournaments, and GSL. Now I understand that's important for these two teams, but then why sign up for Proleague if you aren't going to put the focus on it these KeSPA teams do? It's great for exposure and all, but if EG/TL doesn't bring the same level of preparation to these games as the other KeSPA teams they're going to get blown away more and more.
tl;dr: This team should be strong enough to compete, either the coaching's bad, or the players aren't putting the necessary time in to properly compete with KeSPA teams.

Or they're just getting outplayed, even though they're preparing properly. Keep in mind that EG-TL has over two+ years of experience on the Kespa players. There should be no excuse for their losses, so please stop making them for EG-TL. I can understand EG-TL losing matches if they were traveling from country to country, competing in many different tournaments, and arriving in Korea jet-lagged for their pro league match. However, their last loss (with their best line up) had nothing to do with such. I am sure that EG-TL prepared properly. These are televised matches, which means that this is the most important way to gain exposure to not only Kespa teams, but sponsors and fans as well. There's nothing more prestigious to Koreans pro gamers than pro league and the OSL. Although a vast majority of foreigners see the GSL as the most prestigious because they didn't grow up with the 12 years of OSL and Pro League that the Koreans did on Brood War. Also, keep in mind that the coaches don't manually pick what match up they want their player to play. The coaches choose what player will play on what map. I am sure that the players tell the coach what map they want to play on for their match. So, the match ups are random. HotS isn't a good excuse either because I've heard that the Kespa players are also concurrently practicing both games as well. The hard part to swallow for most fans is that most (if not all) the players on EG-TL have reached their skill cap whereas the Kespa players will only get better. HotS may give EG-TL a new light to exceed their current skill cap but until then...(hopefully not) for the sake of EG-TL fans, will these slaughters continue.

The matchups aren't random. They are based on the map and the skillset of the players involved. As you alluded to. So the truth is somewhere in between these two posts.
Also, when Team 8 was formed it was called a dream team and expected to do extremely well. Very few people stepped back and realized that these were players with very low morale who hadn't been practicing for months and were just thrown together. They had years of Proleague experience and still had a hard time winning matches.
