Only one to move around with your ghost/viking deathball and it'd already pay for itself because protoss won't know where your army is at all. Which means you can win positional wars. AND, because of how quickly observers die, you can just gun them down in battles before the raven dies and then cloaked ghosts win the game. It's not like these guys don't have the control, it's just such a fixed mindset that raven is bad in TvP unless it's 1/1/1 1 raven is actually really good in tvp esp vs collossus play, problem is, as usual, we don't just warp shit in from 100 gateways. Any non medivac/viking building time for your starport puts you behind, so that means you need a 2nd starport, and a techlab, and the 200 gas which is needed for ghosts/ups. The unit is definitely good, problem people miss is that you don't just wish it in your army and it magically spawns

That would give a big advantage to terran lategame as they would be the only race with constant knowledge of the opponent's army positioning through scans. No, it would give a big advantage to players who are actively scouting the whole game instead of just holding watchtowers to have vision of everything. I think the biggest contributing factor to why games tend to get stale is that it is just too easy to spot incoming attacks. If it is easier to stay defensive and defend against incoming aggression it is not really worth it to get aggressive. On the other hand if defending is difficult and if playing passive is actually going to hurt you in the long run because at some point you might miss an attack and take some damage it makes sense to invest into some aggression yourself so that you can start trading blows instead of just being on the receiving end. Terran doesn't really gain an advantage from this. The only time you can really afford to mass scan is when you have more than 5 orbitals and before that it's actually the other two races having more map vision through observers, pylons, creep, overlords. All the races can just adapt by sending scouting units around the map.

I'm pretty sure you can afford to switch one starport with something techlab-equipped for that time it takes to build a raven. Or give it its own techlab, whatever. The price you pay is minimal compared to what it could do for you which is outright win the game if protoss doesn't snipe that thing immediately. Which actually can be avoided if you waste its energy constantly.
