No one. He got an Up and Down seed.

who's great idea was it to give this player any kind of seed <_<

Because famous foreigners attract more viewers, and GOMTV is not a non-profit organization.

I'm pretty sure anyone would rather see a good player than an average non-korean play.

You'd be wrong.

Starcraft 2 PLAYERS will want to watch a quality game with great macro/micro and metagaming.
Starcraft 2 Hipster FANS will want to watch their favorite player lose to a superior Korean gamer.

As evidenced by Lure vs Jaedong earlier today.

There´s always an exception to the rule. Phoenixes are terrible most of the time. Yes, you can use them for scouting and killing overlords, but they won´t do shit against anything else. You would rather mass up on units again and do some aggressive MC style all-in.

This seed bashing would make more sense if Huk didn't make it through Up&Downs like he did

Some would say he was put in an easy group.

1. NesTea 4-1
2. HuK 3-2
3. Center 3-2
4. FanTaSy 2-3
5. finale 1-3
5. Flying 1-3

Some would say that no groups in the GSL are easy anymore. Some would also say that if the seed was given to Fantasy who lost in this group that people would not whine nearly as much. Some would say that Huk performed good on that day and alright today but is now out just like lots of other players are and will be... Huk put out a good effort and if he had a voidray in that game he likely holds the roach/ling push.

Phoenixes can be fantastic, but as with all harassment strategies you have to do quite a bit of damage. But against the sort of classical pressure play that went down in that game you're in quite a bit of trouble. But Phoenixes are popular in the PvZ metagame and it's not without reason. I think they're just a unit that in some players hands look crap and in some players hands they seem imba.

Up&downs are pretty much a lottery - MaNa also got his Code S spot via them some time ago and he showed he's not Code S material yet. It's easy for non-Korean players to win a few random games against Korean pros because of the different playstyles, but it's hard for them to compete on a stable level.

Well there is also a difference between the very top of Code S and Code A.

BaBy qualified legit for this Code S, went last place in his group and got eliminated today, and so has many other players in the past.

Also if you look at MaNa, he lost to TaeJa and MMA, two top, top class players. Same goes for HuK, he lost to Sniper and GuMiho.

Someone has to come last, and if you qualified for Code S, at the time you were Code S

I don't know why you consider Up n' Downs a lottery, it may be more random, but you still need to be really good in order to qualify, there is a reason why whenever the top players went into the Up n' Downs, they trashed the group and got out easy.
