I think if they threw out Taeja instead of Puma its a win I don't think you're being a hater. I definitely want to see EGTL succeed, and I have had similar questions. Taeja is currently injured, so they can't currently use him, which makes it hard since he's arguably the best player on the team. However, a lot of the decisions I've seen from the coaching staff seem questionable to me. Obviously I am just a fan and by no means qualified to run an SC2 Proleague team (this is a fansite though, so why not have some speculation), but some of the decisions just seem weird to me. For example, running HuK out on a KeSPA only map the other night seemed totally bizarre. The guy just qualified for Code S and was clearly devoting his time to that, so it's unclear how prepared he was for Proleague, let alone a map he hadn't practiced much. Last night they must've felt Jangbi would Immortal Sentry all in Jaedong (which he's seemed pretty terrible at holding), or Jaedong wasn't able to play, otherwise I don't see any reason not to use him. I also really question leading off with Stephano, since he has a clear bad matchup (ZvZ) and ton of game tape for any opponent to watch and try to make a build specifically to counter him. He's a great player, but he seems like the guy you'd want to throw out there midway through the series to cause chaos. These guys know way more than me, and there's probably a ton of practicing behind the scenes (preparing snipe builds, etc) that we're not privy to that leads to these decisions though, so for now I'm just going to trust that the coaches have good plans that just aren't panning out yet. EDIT: Jaedong apparently had jet lag issues. That's a bummer, but explains a lot.

EG-TL can't afford best player only plays as a sniper. Hmm... complete unknown in all aspects of a game vs the most studied foreigner in the game who is notoriously bad at ZvZ... In PL format, I take the unknown 99% of the time.

JYP is the only EGTL player on my team and is earning me a lot ![]() He's a dependable go-to that gets sent regularly and wins more often than not. Won't really get sniped because he's not Taeja/Stephano/Jaedong/Hero and plays a standard game well enough to be well rounded in all matches (for the most part)
