Someone with proper math skills should make the ultimate tournament format where there are no unclear and ambiguous situations like this. Day9 where are you when you are needed?!?

They did that and it's called GSL.

That might be true but it's also a completely different format. I was thinking more regarding these one weekend tournaments.

Direct comparison between Naniwa and Nightend -> Nightend wins

only that Nightend is 3-3

and thats why naniwa is through

they really should just not do groups like this in tournaments, either make more groups with less players or do it like gsl

Never mind. Turns out even the official results can't be trusted. Shame on you DH.

Nightend, ForGG and Naniwa are all 5-7 in maps.

Naniwa beats ForGG 2-0
Nightend beats Naniwa 2-1
ForGG beats Nightend 2-1

So they are all even except that Naniwa is the only one with a 2-0 victory in the 3-way tie.

Naniwa should be the one advancing.

That's not any better.
Why even bother playing bo3 at all? Round robin, just play bo1, just as good, right?

Naniwa through. Ret's play isn't a big deal (assuming he knew). What's fucked up is the Dreamhack organization.

Tiebreakers
● The groups are decided in the following order: points, maps +/-, internal match. In case
of a three-way-tie of the previous criteria internal maps +/- will decide.

● Would this not separate the players and determine the group. The players will play a tiebreaker of BO1 against each other. The first match-up will be randomly drawn and tiebreakers will continue until the group is decided.

I.E. Nani wins

In case
of a three-way-tie of the previous criteria internal maps +/- will decide.

Naniwa 2-0 ForGG
ForGG 2-1 Nightend
Nightend 2-1 Naniwa

Naniwa 3-2 (+1)
Nightend (0)
ForGG 2-3 (-1)
