In what way maps played against other players in the group less relevant then the maps played between player involved in the x-way tie (that can be made only after all games are played). Even a cointoss is more fair than that. While a cointoss is escentially fair, given that each player has en equal amount of chance to loose, it does defeat the purpase, which is the single out the person who played the best. While this format might not be the most optimal, there is some merit to using internal map score. At the heart of things, the group play format is played out to decide who among the group are the bests, based on a limited number of games (ie. the amount of games each person playes in the group). Looking at the group as a whole there are 2 players who are "significantly" better then the rest, and 1 who is worse the everybody ells. The 3 remaing players are esentially even when looking at the group as a whole. Internal map scores is then used to decide who among the 3 played the best. Naniva was tied with Nightend, with the most won games, but that the least amount of lost games, so of the 3 he did play the best.

Edit - I don't see the big fuss imo. It's not made one bit of difference to anything in the end. Ah, gotcha. But didn't the community flip out over Naniwa throwing a pointless game in GSL?

Thanks. Ret loses game 1 vs nightend. Game 2 starts. Ret pauses to ask about his ability to advance should he win 2-1. Game 2 resumes. Ret says he received an answer from the admins but refuse to say what it was. While game 2 is playing, Apollo tells everyone on stream that if Nightend wins 2-0, Nightend advances. If Nightend wins 2-1, Naniwa advances. Ret is out no matter what. (Apollo's source was DH admins) Ret goes for a ling/bling all in, smashes against natural ramp that gets forcefielded. Ignores undefended third. Nightend holds. Ret expands to 4 more bases. No drones. Nightend goes up to max food and kills Ret. Shitstorm on all forums because a lot of people think Ret threw the game, and caused Nightend to advance instead of Naniwa. This is where the 40 pages of spam comes in. Turns out Naniwa goes through despite Nightend winning 2-0. Ie, the result was decided by the end of the first game. Nightend had no chance regardless; Ret could only advance if he had won 2-0. Thus, dropping the first game meant that Naniwa advanced no matter what. (Now confirmed via numerous sources) Some people still mad saying that Ret should not have thrown the game regardless. Some others counter that Ret did not throw the game; he went for an all in, and it failed. He then just fucked around by going crazy expand instead of gging.

The community was mad that Naniwa DIDN'T just go for a random 4-gate and at least -try a little- to win. Ret didn't attack with his workers. There is no issue or comparison with the Naniwa scenario.

I've always believed that players play the best when they're completely focused on the game, will TLO's life balance strategy prove me wrong? Hero has lost his "-_-'s favorite Protoss" spot to Creator. Can he get it back? Will Snute, the most overrated underrated player in the world definitively become one or the other? Is Taeja playing in God Mode? FIND OUT IN 10 MINUTES ON DREAMHACKTV! Hype!
