Also, in pvt it could give more variety in openings. Siege tanks are just that bad because map design disfavors them. Some time ago the most important thing on a map was that siege tanks would have no spot they could take advantage of. But you mean things like the higher ground in the middle of shakuras plateau? I guess that map changes in that direction could also work in their favor.

That's pretty telling to be honest. I'd dispute that as many reasons like time-placement production-issues and all-asian player roster could have been far more important. Honestly the only way to tell would be to compare regular high-profile events with varied match-ups - like say GSL finals. Sadly no concrete numbers are available as far as I know.

I don't play this matchup(I'm T, clearly), but I always kinda assumed it was like holding two base muta in bw tvz or something, I guess I'm wrong?

I really think that pretty much every balance complaint can be solved with different map pools. The tricky part is making unique, creative maps that allow a variety of playstyles but are better for some than others, while not being imbalanced. Plus, a lot of people have some knee-jerk reactions to any map that doesn't let you take 3 bases instantly, or let you forge expand easily, or let you have easy surrounds in open areas, and I really think it's the biggest cause for the "stagnation" that people keep talking about

Yep, the Zerg takes multiple bases and a huge econ behind it. Then goes Hive and spines up. There's no timing and you never win a base race against mutas.

That actually makes a lot of sense, having no timing to win on seems pretty deadly for p to me.

That Blizzard insists on putting their garbage cookie cutter mid-sized bland maps in the ladder map pool instead of good community-made maps 2. That tournaments rarely if ever add new and interesting maps to their pool, GSL/GSTL being the only exceptions. 3. That many people who comment in the map section (well most of the few, if that makes any sense) have no fucking idea what they're talking about and can only say "omg this looks like ohana" or "omg ur map sux why cant i play the same boring style everyone has been playing for 9 months, wtf is this sorcery, why u try somthin new omg" All of those, combined with the piss poor custom map system within BNet 2.0, lead to mapmakers having little interest to pursue this. They get no recognition for their maps, not even if said maps are quite good.
