Why would a person's nationality deter you from watching? Especially when they are BY FAR the most skilled? A stubborn and absurd attitude.

why do you cheer for your team when you watch pro sports?
this is like sports psychology 101. foreigners are "your team" and koreans are "the other guys". you root for your team. nothing racist or nationalistic, it's sports
when ymost people watch a tournament you watch it for the competition first and games second, because if you only watched to see high level game play you would just buy gsl vods, watch replays, or korean pro streamers. competition is more intriguing if u know the players intimately.
that's why stephano or idra's stream is more entertaining for most than seed's stream
I personally was less interested in this tsl because of the player pool. I have no issue with Korean/foreigner, but the specific players for the most part didn't interest me. I understand that have a huge open qualifier is much more fair than inviting players, but imo big name players definitely draw more interest. I'd also argue the interest is justified, as the more popular players are generally more popular because they have higher level and/or more entertaining games. As fair as qualifiers are, I would have been more interest if MC, MVP, MKP, Stephano, DRG, etc, were playing in the main tournament.

I don't see why people have decided foreigners are "their team." Like I would get it if people rooted for TL players or EG players or something, as you could have a favorite sc2 team, but it makes no sense to me to root based on what country a player is from.

Maybe it's time you move on and watch something else.
1. No one was asking for your help. 2. Why do you care what other people choose not to watch?
1. How am I helping them?
2. Um, I don't care? Look at what you quoted again. Instead of bitching and moaning perhaps they should do something better with their time and being constructive by watching something else instead.
In other words, why the fuck are they still here?
I don't give two shits about random fanboys who only complain about their players not making it.
You didn't watch it, great. Find another section on these boards that tickles your fancy or go somewhere else instead of spouting out the same shit over and over again.
I didn't watch the finals and I don't really feel bad about it. 80% of events I just check the results on liquipedia. The only things I dedicatedly watch are MLGs, other premiere finals and anything involving IM. Other than that I'll watch the biggest thing currently live when I'm online.

For me the "teams" that I find most people root for or against are the 3 races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. More people care about their race doing well than non-koreans doing well.

So you don't root for athletes from your country at the olympics etc.?
But yeah I think TSL had a pretty good foreigner-korean composition. People wouldn't really care about a foreigner-only tournament as well, it's the foreigner-korean matchups that are the most exciting ones for most people. And you can't just prevent the koreans from finishing top 4 in a format like that.
The main problem with TSL is that it's just an online tournament and replay cast. We are used to those big lan events with big crowds by now and compared to that the TSL is kinda boring, but I don't see how TL can change that.
Theres a taboo on saying that you dont like brackets full of Koreans. But if you say it you get instantly flamed down as a racist. For me it's true though. I enjoy it less in comparison to brackets full of foreigners. And sadly its happening in all my eSports I like (whether it be Koreans or Chinese).

Well there's a difference between open tournaments and invite tournaments. If you create an invite tournament with 8 foreigners that's great, but in open tournaments like a MLG/TSL everyone has the right to participate and it would be terrible to exclude nations, just because they are too good...

There's such a taboo on it, that for every tournaments featuring more koreans than foreigners you get a handful full pages of such complaints. Come on, really, at least don't play the senseless victim card in the cauldron of bullshit that everyone already mixes in LR threads.

1. olympics, people root for their country
2. the reason why foreigners are most foreigner's "team" is because they communicate with the community to a certain degree and also koreans are so strong that it's like rooting for the underdog. everyone loves that

yea most koreans have little personality and cant speak english and communicate internationally with fans. and why are we still calling everyone outside of kroea foreigners? i understand in broodwar because bw was biggest in korea but now sc2 is much bigger outside of korea so why still use the word foreigners?
Nice Finals! I don´t care if the players are Korean or not. Seriously guys, not watching it because they are not your favorite players is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. It´s not like you see them or anything in TSL...
