Because some people want to see entire model of a unit and can't combine their knowledge of how the units look (which is a constant - stalkers can enter an engagement with low/medium/high amount of hitpoints) with a little more effort watching.

Yea but the addition of blink makes healthbars much more critical. Otherwise noone has any idea who is winning. You need to be able to see if the stalkers up front have regenerated enough to keep going.

Yeah, down with those casual spectators. Back in my days, you couldn't watch more than one stream at a time, the cast didn't restart automatically after the ads played, you only got half the audio, and the view skill ceiling was that much higher in general. Blizzard has lost its way!

People were upset that there were no foreigners or "top players" (aka Mvp/nestea/mc) in the finals so a lot stopped watching if you believe the posts from other LRs. could also be that there are so many "LAN" events that TSL has kind of lost some prestige

There's just so many factors as well including an oversaturation of tournaments. There are minor and major tournaments happening on a daily and weekly basis. How many tournaments were around with TSL3?
