He already beat Hero in the winners bracket. Just a silly build hoping hero wouldn't scout I guess.

Its only Bo3 Puzzle, cmon stop joking god damn. Some people don't scout in PvP, I'm not sure if Hero has or hasn't in his previous games but Puzzle may have had reason to believe that Hero wouldn't scout. If you get away with a Nexus first you would have a huge lead.
Thats still a pretty big risk, I havent seen many people who dont scout in PvP. But actually thats a pretty good point, yea maybe Puzzle was thinking that Hero wouldn't scout.

I cannot remember exactly what the scout timings were for Hero in the games they played earlier in general, nor the Cloud Kingdom one specifically, but if Puzzle spotted that he had a very, very late scout it is possible that he went Nexus first to punish a no-scout build.
But Nexus first is so risky - it almost feels like the ultimate cheese in PvP. Though I have seen it so seldom that I am not even sure how it needs to play out to get a substantial lead from it?

From what we've seen thus far, definintely mechanics of the gods. Puzzle is just obviously scared.

Normally, yes, since the whole point of 11 gate is that your warpgate will be faster than a standard opening. Against nexus first, that will always happen.
