Just make sure HerO's doesn't have bad feelings about it, I want him to crush MLG.
He always fears to disappoint his fans, even when there is absolutly no reason.

Wait, so did Taeja never participate in WCS Korea? I can't find his name in liquipedia.

He did not qualify, lost to random Protoss in the preliminaries, it was before he went godmode if I recall correctly.
Forget that, I was thinking of the OSL prelims. As Nazgul said, he was busy winning MLG.

Just a small word on HerO's forfeit. Because Bumblebee is the man and does his job better than anyone, we found out about the scheduling issue between MLG and WCS in July. We really do not like consciously committing to things we can't finish so we suggested to WCS that we cancel HerO and TaeJa's participation.

These choices need to be made very early on. MLG needs to know whether you're coming to play group stage so they can book the flights and hotel for you. The forfeit has nothing to do with how much of a chance we have to win WCS due to PvP or other silly speculation like that. You don't tell MLG you will participate, having your flights booked, and then say never mind our chances in WCS are better. We decided MLG over WCS, knowing we would be in MLG group stage, when WCS had not even started yet.

After some communication GOMTV basically said we should join WCS, and play it for the seeds to WCS Asia, since it was possible to qualify for top 8 before MLG started. We appreciate this kind of attitude from tournaments, although as our suggestion implies we also would have understood if they said you can't play.

Sounds good. Sad to see Hero go though, he's the only player I was cheering for left in WCS, being a protoss and not knowing any of the Kespa guys (yet), I cheered for the Euro team guy with an international class haircut (what else is there ?), WCS just got rather pointless for me, got no one to get excited about for the rest of the tournament

uhh... you REALLY need to look at the bracket again then. As a fellow Protoss player I can assure you that there are plenty of Protoss to choose from. Squirtle, Parting, Creator, and the last GSL champion Seed are all in the final four of the winners bracket lol. This is THE protoss tournament to pick from dude

I'm a little confused, I get that Hero pulled out of WCS for above reasons, but he HAS secured his top 8 spot and a trip to ASIA Finals ...... right? Basically nothing lost besides potential higher placement and a few bucks?

The tournament and fans lose a lot from players dropping out, so it is not something that should be done lightly.

I know I would be very upset if I flew all the way to Korea to see HerO only to find out that he would be in the states. It'd be tough for me to understand at first, but I only would want HerO to do his best. hwaiting!!!

I think Hero and Liquid made the best of a bad situation. He was able to secure his spot in WCS Asia, but also be able to visit his foreign fans at MLG which he is seeded into the groups. Obviously it sucks to forfeit the rest of WCS Korea, but unfortunately tournaments collide.

Yeah. It's interesting to compare his situation with that of Taeja, who had to sacrifice his chances in WCS completely (skipping the KR preliminaries, which HerO didn't need to attend thanks to his GSL ranking) in order to participate in the Arena.

No one working on the team is based in our NY office permanently. Nazgul is Dutch and lives in the Netherlands. I'm Danish and live in Denmark. Treehugger is American and lives in Minnesota when he studies and during summer in NY. Kennigit lives in Ottawa, Canada.

I will admit I am a bit disappointed that I will not see a PvP between HerO and herO. That would have made for some really good laughs I'm sure. But then again I wish HerO good luck at MLG
