  Hey, bro.
I just watched this game called Starcraft 2. I personally found it pretty boring and don't understand why it's so popular. All I did was watch two guys make an army and attack each other and that was it. They also do this thing where they just spam making boxes at the beggining of the game. Why do that? Also, apparently there's more than 3 types of unit for each race (Terran, Protoss, and some other alien race who has a hot girl as their leader), but I don't understand why the game developers bothered to put them in since they were never used (maybe for Single Player?). It seems like I could just take a couple of weeks playing the game before I can be as good as them...

I'm sorry? Its a scam because people can pay for "Gold" to get stuff earlier then using the ingame currency? Because people choose to pay for skins for classes? People pay for the stuff because they WANT to, not because they HAVE to. The game is free. The classes, weapons, equipment, ALL can be unlocked with the game currency known as XP.
I fail to see your logic.

FPS has become more and more terrible as time goes on. modern day cods are just for add people with nothing better to do than sprint, spray and knife.
old school CS had good team fights, but still not as much skill as BW i would say.

last cap, from my perspective. he runs in a perfectly straight line down a straight map
yes, however the commentator said (you must have missed it) that it was a "chain cap" so directly preceding it was a few minutes of defensive gridlock, finally it was broken but one team had a player loose waiting for the recap, so he had a clear run. it's a risk coz you have less players in the fracas but if you get the cap, your loose player can do the straight run like you said.

The mechanics of Tribes are very very basic...
I'm not a Tribes expert by any stretch, but I guess the game boils down to:
-mastering the movement in tribes It's actually very hard to move so fast and maintain that speed, as you sort of "surf" around the map. You have to utilize the terrain and rocket/grenade jumps the thrust yourself around the map and maintain high speed.
-mastering aiming Most weapons in this game are projectile based, so aiming them is, of course, very hard... simply moving the crosshair onto your opponent won't do.
and then there's vehicles, tactical weapons, choice of gear... and all that jazz...

There are more games out with vastly more intricate and deep tactics than ever. It is ridiculous to think FPS games are getting dumber. Just because you see Call of Duty on TV don't assume there aren't people who spend hours training in Arma 2 just to prepare for an multiplayer match.

For anyone who wants to try this game, it's just been released on Steam as well as being able to be downloaded from the Tribes:Ascend Site.
Public games are usually a bit more chaotic than this, with up to 16 v 16 players on these maps. Definitely worth a try, it can be a lot harder than you'd imagine! :D
