He didn't show the additional units he had warped in. Keen just saw an army that did not increase in size. So he thought Naniwa expanded behind it and is just trying to freak him out with the units in front of his base.

I drove my brother to DH yesterday but I'm not actually there myself, but the players are usually in an entirely different venue than the casters at DH IIRC.

Yeah, it certainly seemed weird to me. Keen couldn't see the Stargate, the only reason to do that smiley face was to the viewers, and it looked pretty suspicious. I'm not normally the one to call cheating, but it was a very suspicious circumstance, especially considering he did exactly what the casters were recommending.
