No disrespect, I get that these players are very good at BW and probably any RTS. Just the business aspect of it. Seems like Kespa is taking a huge risk. Wouldn't it be smarter to bring the GSL players and get high level games to bring over the audience? The BW guys would catch up faster too. the problem is sc2 isnt exactly popular in korea so theyr trying to lure audience with the well known stars of bw.

I think it was either Plexa or Rekrul that wrote a blog on this about how broodwar was marketed like a boy band, rather than for quality of games. I remember reading something like that.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by that? I don't really get it. So they advertise about the player's personalities and looks rather than the games?

Yup, I would say about 70-80% of fans are fangirls who are there for the players rather than the game itself. When the players fully transition to SC2 there's a pretty good chance that those fans will transition along.

The game becomes interesting because of storylines and the players, not just the game itself. This is true in any sport.
