I think to myself "Why would this spell be in the game...Why would the put in a rooting spell that does so much damage? Why would they think it's exciting to watch or use?"
GG regardless, keen made some good play but misread and overextended over the course of the game. Well to be fair, when that happens it's usually due to a complete lack of spreading by terran. Getting that many marines fungaled in place by one fungal is simply unacceptable. I know but like, Watching an entire end -game battle come down to not even an engagement but just... "hey a fungal landed, now that entire pack of units is dead and there is nothing you can do about it" is really...Not fun to watch. It's just a mechanic that shouldn't be in the game. I kinda agree that fungal is a very punishing spell and shouldn't immobilize the units complitely, but Terran has tools to make the fungals far less devastating.

Exactly. You had the choice to "do" something about it in BW. You "could" do something. Out of everything in the game currently that is really dumb, fungal is the one thing that sticks out the most by far imo.

What do you mean nothing you can do about it? You can spread out your units so that doesn't happen. You think it's fun playing vs forcefields or siege lines? Devils advocate: Fungals stop ALL micro if they land. If forcefields land, you can lift your units or sometimes move them to the side. Siege lines aren't really the same thing at all.

I feel that they have arrived at the point where they feel totally comfortable casting with eachother and it really shows.

If those were plagues/storms the same thing would've happened - the entire fucking marine ball got hit (by three fungals). There are times to bitch about fungal but that isn't really one of them; the game was decided whether it rooted or not.
Appreciating that Golden pulled that off (because there was more to that than most spellcasting in SC2) would be more appropriate.

Fungals are like plague and ensnare all rolled into a single spell IMO

That build suddenly makes so much sense. Force Golden into early third so that he doesn't have sufficient tech to defend the hellions and cloak banshees.
