looks like a clear MMA vs MC final. None of Puma/SuperNova or Zenio could take down MMA for sure. And MC may have a lil trouble with Violet, otherwise he's better than the rest.

MC > Violet, after MC training with DRG. It's the inevitable PvP that could be tricky.

Well Violet just beat herO couple days ago so can't underestimate him though.

Also watching restream where IdrA premature gg in like every game lol.

Yeah, well MC's PvZ >>> Hero PvZ at the moment.

Any Feast games worth watching or is he just a 2 base all-in 'toss?

Can't give a specific game, but he is certainly not just a 2 base all-in toss.

And one of the two failing Koreans (Select) auto-lost because of 4 Koreans in one group where only 3 can advance (Select got fourth).

Real was the only one who placed below third place and performed worse than foreigners.

I was about to say that I was impressed to see Protosses doing well, but then I realized that groups A, C, and D all had one of each race advance, and group B was almost entirely Protoss anyway, so it was expected for more Protoss to move on overall.

How the hell has Puma never been in even code A of GSL. He regularly beats other code A/S Koreans in foreign tournaments. Does he even go to the code A qualifiers?

I believe he has gone to 2 qualifiers since joining EG. The last one he went to he was made it to the final round but lost. There seems to be some sort of mental block when it comes to the Code A qualifiers for Puma. He is most definitely good enough to be in Code A and I could see him making Code S. There is a reason EG has him as their ace over JYP. Also Kennegit picked Puma to get first in his IEM group even over Code S Liquid'Zenio. There is just something about the qualifiers that he doesnt play his best.

Puma is really bad against good zergs, that's why he can't qualify and (probably) wouldn't last in GSL. JYP isn't the ace because he's not well-rounded enough.

Zenio is an aberration in Code S.

while his TvZ is his weakest match up, he can beat good Zergs and does. Like it or not, Zenio is code S and got there through solid play. Not only did he just 2-0 him, he 3-0'd Lucky at Assembly. He has beaten DRG too. Its a mental block keeping him out of gsl. if he made it in, he would absolutely stay in and its silly to suggest otherwise.

Lucky's ZvT is terrible. Zenio's isn't much better.

He beat DRG once (and it was 2-1). He also proceeded to lose to Lucky, Ret, Morrow, got mauled by Stephano at Assembly (who didn't consider practicing ZvT for months before Polt beat him in the finals), and was outplayed by Ragnarok and Miya in EWM. His KR record vs zergs is 2-10 since GSL Season 1 qualifiers.

he's above average against T, not that good against Z, amazing against P

but he should still be able to qualify for code A. I mean, JYP was horrible versus terran and zenio's only good MU is against other zergs and they both are in the GSL.

Zenio and JYP can never make deep runs in the GSL. They get knocked out of the first round immediately and are forced to rely on lucky matchups to survive. Zenio play very well against sC but usually his ZvT is much sloppier; I was surprised to see such good late game management. And it sure didn't carry over to IEM. :/

Puma still regularly beats Code A/S level players from all 3 races. Yes, he has lost to some non code A/S Zergs. Pretty much every player has. You know MVP just lost to Ret too. And some of those losses you listed were in bo1's or cross server play.

Puma's TvZ is far better than JYP's PvT. His weakest match up is still stronger than a lot of GSL players weakest match ups. Every player has a weak match up. MMA isnt good against Protoss, yet has won a GSL championship.

MMA's "bad" TvP means he only wins 50% of the time against Code S protoss players. Just because it's worse than his 80% winrate in TvZ doesn't mean it's really that bad compared to other terrans.

I'll agree that Puma's TvZ isn't completely hopeless, but he has still lost his last 6 BoX series against koreans...

Yup. Looks like we're going to have a 2T, 2P semifinal. Pretty interesting turnout, although not unexpected given the proportions of race that attended the tournament and the best players there being T and P.

Yea pretty much all the top players were T and P so this isnt too surprising. MC vs MMA finals could be good i think.

Why is this not under WC D2 but "Others", even though it's a rerun? NASL and IPL(which is running right now) are always under their categories even when they rerun...

What i dont get is, mana, select and dimaga were 1-4 as well as Idra, but only "IdrA is trash/garbage/sucked/got owned" spammed in the thread.

idra 2-1'ing supernova isn't too bad. I felt like vs misread Feast's builds, i dont feel like he tilted much at all, especially compared to before. His mental game was much stronger. Feast just had weird builds that tricked IdrA, so props to him for that; the forge gate into 4gate build looked like a super early allin and idra stayed on a low drone count, feast was up almost 20 probes after his initial attack, then continued to pressure and slowly but surely kill idra who had 3/5 of his econ and no time to drone most of the game.

On another note, Feast really does remind me of Grubby, and he has even before Grubby did his 'mentorship' thing. The way feast plays is very much like how i would see a better version of grubby ideally playing (stylistic, aggressive, active on the map with most of army all the time, army over economy without being allin)

Quite honestly i think idra was 2 very close games away from taking darkforce's spot. Not that i think he would have made it past ro16, because that is very unlikely.

look at the groups

IdrA is favored against everyone in his group besides maybe supernova ironically. TL's recap explains it pretty well:

Having lifted trophies on the IEM stage earlier this season, top foreigners mouz.MaNa, mTw.DIMAGA, Kas, and IdrA all turned in disappointing performances at the World Championship. DIMAGA and MaNa's troubles were more understandable, as they had the misfortune of being placed into a group with three Koreans (possibly four, depending on one's assessment of SeleCT). On the other hand, Kas and IdrA were considered favorites going into their group, with only SuperNoVa presenting a real threat on paper. In the end, they were unable to swim through Europe's formidable depth, and were washed away to early exits.

Plus, IdrA always is in the spotlight of this scene.

I guess its because Idra makes himself a target with his attitude.

Most of the comments regarded Idra came from his first 4 series, he looked pretty awful and got demolished time and time again by players he should beat (on paper).

He kinda redeemed sort of it by beating Supernova, but by then he was already out of the tournament, the game didn't mean anything to either player and the public opinion was already made up.

Well thats not really taking into consideration that IdrA has been slumping, Kas will always play well, doesn't cause exclamation but never poorly, Feast is REALLY good... like watching him at Kiev was enough to convince me he was pretty darned good. If anything supernova should have beaten IdrA tho...

Feast is really good. But PvZ is his worst matchup (same goes for Real). Darkforce ZvZ isnt impressive either.
Idra really should beat them tho. Even pinnacle still believed in him and he was pretty favored in each of these games.
