Several of the races were matched up against themselves, though, so its 1/2 Zergs, 4 Protoss, 2/3 Terran.

How the hell has Puma never been in even code A of GSL. He regularly beats other code A/S Koreans in foreign tournaments. Does he even go to the code A qualifiers?

He can't get past Code A qualifiers.

no, supernova beat darkforce

My predictions:
MMA > Zenio/Supernova
Elfi > JYP Puma > Elfi
So MMA vs Puma in the first semi.
Darkforce > viOLet MC > Darkforce
Killer < HasuObs Feast > HasuObs
Feast vs MC in the second, witch should be awsome :D

There seems to be some sort of mental block when it comes to the Code A qualifiers for Puma. He is most definitely good enough to be in Code A and I could see him making Code S. There is a reason EG has him as their ace over JYP. Also Kennegit picked Puma to get first in his IEM group even over Code S Liquid'Zenio. There is just something about the qualifiers that he doesnt play his best.

Puma is really bad against good zergs, that's why he can't qualify and (probably) wouldn't last in GSL. JYP isn't the ace because he's not well-rounded enough.
Zenio is an aberration in Code S.

Awww, gotta feel bad for Elfi.. Only koreans on his road to finals ^__^ At least first matchup is pvp...

It's not the first time the Race that has the highest number of players in the final bracket gets "casually" thinned off by mirror matchups.
It is more prone to happen, when there are a lot of people from the same race, that mirror matches are more likely. The ZvZ basically made the whole thing completely nearly impossible to not have at least one PvP.
If there were no Mirrors, people might argue the completely diffrent way, claiming that it waas fixed to not ahve any mirror matches.
You can read a lot into the bracket, i could just claim, that IEM hates Z and germans, because DF and HasuObs are not able to meet in the finals.
Don't want to attakc you just trying to show that one could argue in either way ^^

Not only did he just 2-0 him, he 3-0'd Lucky at Assembly. He has beaten DRG too. Its a mental block keeping him out of gsl. if he made it in, he would absolutely stay in and its silly to suggest otherwise.

he's above average against T, not that good against Z, amazing against P
but he should still be able to qualify for code A. I mean, JYP was horrible versus terran and zenio's only good MU is against other zergs and they both are in the GSL.

Just came back from Cebit and I have to say the trade fair is huuge... Like always. The IEM have probably the largest area of them all (Microsoft or SAP come close) but there are some things I would like to point out for sc2 fans. I will compare it to last year:
Much better / good: - you can now sit down and watch SC2 all day long on a specialized stage, rather than enduring hours of LoL and CS 1.6 in between the sc2 games, since they only had 1 stage last year. - you are so damn close to the players and casters that you can stand behind them and really watch over their shoulder (or spit them on the head if you're an imbecile) - you can also watch the players in the players lounge which seems to be very nice and comfy
not good / terrible: - SC 2 stage is tiny compared to the LoL stage (Main stage), just about a third of the size - no real fan atmosphere because most visitors are normal trade show visitors (introduces them to e-Sport, which is a good thing, but of course they don't go nuts) - It is incredibly noisy, especially because sc2 stage is close to the xmg booth and they are having extremely loud music and give away stuff to a yelling crowd of teenagers. I now officially hate XMG because the terribly annoying "XMG" chants which make it very hard to hear the cast
My bottom line is: Cebit is definetely worth a visit. If you go there you should check out more than just the IEM though. Best thing about the IEM is that you can see the players and watch them play / practice. It is often quite funny to see folks in suits stand there and watch the screens with expression of pure confusion on their faces :D They just can't comprehend why there are so many people sitting and watching. But if you want to watch the games you are probably better off with the stream because XMG and their ridiculous noise level kills it...

He's an absolute beast in Foreign Tournaments... which we all know. He has over a 65% w/r in every match up in the foreign scene. And he's apparently one of the best in practice in Korea. I dunno, Code A qualifiers are kinda lame, where you can get far and knocked out to something stupidly. I also think that this suits him more than Code A. Where he can play on the fly, not having much time to prepare vs. Code A and Code S where players prepare weeks for 1 match and set of maps.

Lucky's ZvT is terrible. Zenio's isn't much better.
He beat DRG once (and it was 2-1). He also proceeded to lose to Lucky, Ret, Morrow, got mauled by Stephano at Assembly (who didn't consider practicing ZvT for months before Polt beat him in the finals), and was outplayed by Ragnarok and Miya in EWM. His KR record vs zergs is 2-10 since GSL Season 1 qualifiers.

Zenio and JYP can never make deep runs in the GSL. They get knocked out of the first round immediately and are forced to rely on lucky matchups to survive. Zenio play very well against sC but usually his ZvT is much sloppier; I was surprised to see such good late game management. And it sure didn't carry over to IEM. :/
