MMA was a GSTL champ then failed in code A for 2 consecutive seasons before getting a code S spot through MLG. DRG was LG winner and GSTL hero as well and then bumped out in code A, got to code S then got kicked out again before coming back recently. It's not exactly a surprise that MC's peaks and lows coincide with the rise and fall of Protoss; after all, he was the main innovator of Protoss strategy in Korea. MMA and DRG had the Proleague problem. Some players just excelled in team leagues and blew chunks in individual tournaments (Bisu, Sea, etc.)

If let's say Stephano was in top 4 code S or won a code S, you know damn well you would proclaim Stephano as the greatest. But since he's not, of course Code S is wishy washy riiight? Code S gsl is by far the best way to gauge skill at the moment in sc2.
