I'm also getting tired of leagues using the all-kill format over and over again. I want to see Proleague format at least once in Korean SC2.

what is the proleague format?

Blind pick 4 players for each team, then if it's tied up 2-2 it goes to an Ace match where you can use anyone on your team, even if they already played and lost.

that sounds mostly like random luck then.

It's not really random luck since you still have to play and win your game, and being Bo1, it is still anyone's game to win even if they get matched up against MVP or Nestea.

The advantage of Proleague format is that you are for SURE getting more exposure for each team, and that the skill of the entire team matters much much more than those 1-2 man team (for example, DRG all killing like half the matches, etc). In effect, it's much more representative of a team's strength as a whole.

Yay FXO! I picked them to win, even writing a terrible article about it, so I'm excited to watch them prove me right! But hopefully I'll be asleep by then . If my insomnia strikes again, I'll be here watching with you guys!

Go FXO!!!

no you pick your most rounded players, coaching has a big role in proleague since they determine lineup
you give new players a shot typically in the first 2 games, your reliable players play games 3 and 4 and then ace = best winrate overall on your team.

then again now there is no ace in this years proleague

for instance for IM:

IMseed
IMyonghwa
IMLosira
IMMVP
IMMVP/IMNestea

would be the lineup you would see the first two are likely interchangeable for any IM players, losira is a very solid 3rd man out in proleague format, he's good in pretty much any matchup, and reliable enough to win a game the majority of the time if the pressure is on him. MVP is good enough to continue the streak in game 4, if the team needs him, he's incredibly reliable and game 4's are required wins for teams that get to them and MVP fits that, and if they managed to beat MVP game 4, depending on who they think will be the ace, they send neatea or MVP back out.

does that make sense?

the fact of the matter is Proleague format makes sure the best team wins consistantly. yeah flash gives his team an incredible advantage and this season pretty a free win every time, but the rest of his team needs to be there.

if BW proleague was all kill, KT would send out flash. and based on how he is doing this season, win.

Proleague format also makes individuals winrates more consistant with how good they are.
in GSTL, unless you win 5 games in a row, you are guaranteed a loss just for going out first.

it also makes things like bisu's stupid amount of proleague wins last season MEAN something, he didn't just destroy ACE in an all kill a few times, he dominated consistantly against every team.

SlayerS should have this, but FXO has quite a few very solid players so they should be able to put up a fight. I wouldn't be shocked if they won either, but SlayerS is the easy choice for being the favorite imo.

Well said. I wouldn't mind switching to proleague because I hate carries. Yeah, Jaedong carried Oz for forever, but it wasn't nearly as bad as DRG carrying MVP the past 2 team leagues. The entire rest of MVP was completely awful throughout all of group play, getting I think 3 wins total.
Life is too short to take it seriously.

and then there were Jaedongs slumps being brought up by overwork.

he carried OZ for a few seasons, then had a slump and then had to go back to carrying.

all kill formats are exciting, and i don't necessarily think it's a bad format, but it's definitely not as good for the players/teams. it's mostly for the viewers. you don't build a team by having everyone hold up the best player, you build a team by everyone supporting eachother, bearing equal weight, the strong hold up the weak, ect. thats why proleague format is so good, at least to me.

Too many SlayerS fanboys! Go FXO!

@Seeker: Maybe you can add the lineups of the teams. It's always nice to go through the roster.

SK should just make their own team. Have MC all-kill Zenex and replace them as a one-man all-kill squad.

Or get MKP and play with MC, MKP and Reis in Lineup all the time, now that would be epic.
