What is NASL Sunday Showdown?+ Show Spoiler +NASL Announces Showmatch Series! To kick off 2012, the North American Star League announced that several improvements were underway, from plans to go live to additional programming, and more. Today, NASL reveals yet another new addition to its eSports programming lineup: the NASL Sunday Showdown. Each Sunday, NASL will feature two of the world’s finest players compete in a Bo7 showmatch for a $500 prize pool! The victor of the series will be awarded $400 and glory, while the loser will take home $100 as a consolation. This Sunday Showdown, which will be utilizing GSL maps, will air after the NASL Team League each Sunday throughout the Team League. So tune in each Sunday at 6pm PST for an exciting team match, followed by the Sunday Showdown.

You're insane.
He is the only guy I've ever seen beat a top class Terran with full Ghost Mech (vs ForGG on Daybreak).
He's also taken many games from MVP using Hive Tech.
Leenock has by far the best late game control of hive units vs any race. In fact Leenock has the best micro/control of any Zerg in general.

Thats why he has barely lost any series vs Terrans right? 1 lost to Jikaji and 1 lost to Supernova who he beat shortly after. He beat MVP ffs dude -_- Someone who can't win in the endgame doesn't beat MVP.

You really couldn't be more wrong. Leenock is the best late game Zerg player.
Absolutely no other Zergs control Brood Lords as well as Leenock.

That being said, I think that putting MorroW up against a player like Leenock at what I think is his worst match-up seems a bit questionable. It would be cool for MorroW to win, but I doubt he will.

Seriously, you are on to something though. That could be a huge way for NASL to raise interest, by generating controversy. NASL needs to get attention, especially when it is getting continuously hammered by IPL, and Coca and Byun need to redeem themselves. It's a match made in heaven! Of course, they could not give away a Code S spot, but what about a spot in Season 3? Make it a redemption showmatch, Coca vs Byun, Bo7 or Bo9. If they do even a somewhat decent job of hyping that, it'll bring viewers. I know I would watch.

He did play zvz until June last year, he doesn't enjoy the matchup and finds it a bit random.

It's not that he can't win in ZvZ. He played ZvZ for a fairly long time before he decided to race pick and did ok (except against a select few top level zergs like nerchio). He had more reasons than simply losing for his choice. I also saw him write in his stream chat earlier today that ZvZ is still a stupid match-up.  In short I wouldn't count on him pulling out his ZvZ for this.

It is a dumb matchup, no doubt. Whoever allins first has a big chance of winning the game. Still though, he seems like a player with good control that could be decent in ling/bling wars or with infestors at the very least.

I don't know why NASL (and other tournaments) keep doing the "foreigner favorite vs. Korean who's among the very best in the world in the matchup" thing. Sure, it's cool to see amazing players, and it's cool to see players like MorroW that everyone loves play, but does anyone actually think this is gonna be close? Pick two foreigners or two top Koreans, not someone who almost won Code S and someone who can't stay in Code A. :/

Leenock was pretty far behind in supply for some reason. 30 supply behind when he was building Ultras; 70 supply behind while saving for them. Even with a quick Hive that seems unreasonable.

It's a pity that Leenock made all those ultralisks and they ended up being useless x.x

Leenock missed his timing with the ultras. Once you have ulras you shoud trade often with them. If you make flanks, they should be effiecient. You can keep ghost energy low and ghost numbers low that way. The best way to deal with ultras is with bio, and if you get a few good fungals, the ultras will tear right thru the bio.

Leenock was pretty far behind in supply for some reason. 30 supply behind when he was building Ultras; 70 supply behind while saving for them. Even with a quick Hive that seems unreasonable.
Yeah I was really confused by that, although I suppose Morrow did have really good macro that game. All in all, Leenock was too passive, he is a muta guy at heart :3

I don't want to complain about balance but how many times do we have to see superior armies with superior upgrades just melt to a few ghosts and some marines.. something needs to be done about it, the ghost cannot counter the infestor, ultra AND broodlord.. its just ridiculous.

I think its just kinda built into some of you poeple to bitch about something. Ghosts are fine. If you do it right, ultras are way better vs ghost then brood lords are. Morrow was doing so much more than leenock was that game, and deserved to win.
If you played Terran then youd know:
vs broodlord you make ghost/viking
vs ultra you make marauder

Wow, Morrow was just fighting a losing battle after that roach-bane all-in. If his siege tank wasn't firing on his supply depot during that initial attack we might have seen a different game. Valiant effort to get back into the game however.

Morrow's TvZ has really improved since his stay in Korea. I remember when he was getting shat on by no names with his TvZ.
Really nice to see him putting on some solid macro terran games against one of the best ZvTer's in the world.

Morrows Terran has always been a fast third CC, Leenock was smart to punish, especially on Daybreak, a map where I love to double CC with 1 marine.
Leenock would be smart to punish greed with more greed, or with banelings.

I actually enjoyed watching and casting the game quite a lot. It was one of the funnies games I've seen in ages. Both players made mistakes but the game was still very entertaining. Don't know why some people starting hating on it. And believe me: both of them took the game serious, although Morrow was fully aware of the huge lead he had.

I think this game needs to break the double-standard that alot of people have for players in certain situations. I mean when MKP shrugs his shoulders and bum-rushes tanks with marines in tvt, we all cheer and enjoy him playing because it makes the game fun and entertaining. I think that alot more players need to be allowed to do this. It takes alot of skill to nuke like that or do concaves like that, and I agree that Leenock would at one point just give up, saying "well I guess I'll just get nuked now".
And sometimes, players get stressed/something during a game and their gameplay suffers. If it's late enough, a game gets hilarious and wonderful. It's sort of like soccer players doing tricks and screwing around when they're four or five goals ahead

Oh btw. as Morrow played on my account I was able to set up a camera in the room and record him playing all of the matches. I still have to edit them but I plan on releasing the videos in a few days. I want to thank Morrow for allowing me to record the matches as well as the NASL for allowing me to post them!

Yea Ravens are damn good vs broodlords, but cost twice as much as a ghost, cannot cloak, require upgrade for seeker missle.
Ravens are damn good vs Broodlords and I have made posts about it before. I am a Terran player and I use them.

Ghosts are more cost efficient.
HSM costs a lot of energy, is on a unit that costs a lot of gas, and does 100 damage if the Zerg spreads his brood lords. If he doesn't - that game happens, but a Zerg who knows how to play vs. HSM will spread his broods and won't take as much damage.
Ghosts also double as counters to Infestors. Ravens don't.

Not to mention unless you are building 4-5 starports then they take a really really long time to get compared to ghosts.

Seeing two top players at the top of their game is amazing to watch. Its not about watching nukes land or lots of units die. Leenocks reaction timing and decision making the last game were so poor that I wonder if he took it seriously.

It can be surprisingly difficult to keep up with mass nukes throughout the late game.

I like my showmatches to be entertaining as well as strategically excellent; though more often than not I'd prefer the former.

Morrow is such a stylistic player... his terran and zerg are both very similar. He emphasizes getting the small things right (creep spread, overlord spread, injects; turret placement building walls, bunkering the third with depot surround) and always wants to play til the late game. It would be nice to see him try to kill opponents earlier though, just to make him less predictable. Especially in his zerg matchups, he tends to let players back in the game by maybe being too passive after taking an advantage.

He used to do some sick High eco baneling busts against T last summer (TSL vs Jinro for example).
Haven't seem him play in a while though, but I'm sure he still plays offensive sometimes
