But didn't they always use the current tournament maps in broodwar? You couldn't play those on blizzard's ladder at home just on "pirate servers" that they hated.

I hope to see as many 2 raxes, bunker/pylon wall-ins and scv pulls as humanly possible. Make a statement gentlemen, here's our chance. Whoa. I really like your idea. Is there any way we can communicate this to the Koreans?

I mean, there are clearly some horrible maps there, but honestly, most other major tournaments feature gems such as Dual Sight and Xel'Naga Fortress. Not that they have the same kind of issues, but it is abundantly clear that some matchups are just silly on those maps. Even Bel'Shir Beach has the same issue, but everyone loves that due to the scenery so it often eludes criticism. If you substituted Abyssal and Shattered with Dual Sight and Fortress, I would still be very unhappy about the map picks. Not that these are great, they are horrible, but that does not mean that this tournament specifically should be singled out.
