so true. best production BY FAR! mlg, please watch this and learn.
What does MLG need to learn? they for sure had a better stream.
How to host an event, quick game turnover, how to do a concise ceremony that isn't awkward, how to do adverts. There are many others I'm sure
You are of course aware that MLG is much much larger in size, hosts two streams at the same time, and has brought us some of the most memorable moments thus far in SC2, are you not? MLG does an amazing job, I don't see why every time a Dreamhack thread comes around people start calling it out...
Maybe because people get mad when MLG is even mentioned in the same sentence as Dreamhack ( Crap now I did it). Dreamhack has a long and honorable history among gamers and has hosted many many tournaments in realy competetive Esport games all the way from Quake 1, Starcraft, CS 1.6 to recent games like Starcraft 2, Call of duty 4 and other popular games.
MLG is mostly known for jumping on the console bandwagon, aiming for fratboys in the states jumping up and down in excitment over the last Halo game. If you can't see the difference and why people get upset then you should study some Esport history.

I think the stage was a bit too small for that unfortunately.

But it looks much more comfortable, and the conversation seems less rushed.
Stream problems was because of justin.tv, not because of dreamhack in the slightest. MLG's problems were because they didn't use a landline, and decided to broadcast by satelite truck -.-
Also there are some other differences. The HD stream is free. The only reason that it was ever free was because MLG fucked up the broadcasts, so the comparison between streams should be between 1080p for DH and 240p for MLG, unless you pay for a ticket to even up the scores. There are way way way less commercials (If anyone mentions doctor pepper or old spice....) and they have enough self confidence to let in a guy like 2gd, who might take a jab at the organizers.

Dreamhacks production is just better and something that MLG should strive for, the way DH handles breaks with music playing not 1 tune on a loop, the ads done better, they keep you informed with the local time and clock for games, they shown the bracket and not just random shots of the crowd.
These are all things MLG can do, yes its a much bigger tourn but that has NOTHING to do with providing a good viewing experience for stream watchers.
Add in to that free HD from DH and the shitty free stream from MLG.
BTW, I love watching MLG and enjoy the tourns they put on but to say like some in here that they are on par with DH is just daft.

Oh god no! Console games! MLG has done a lot for SC2, no need to bash them. We're talking about their events now, the history doesn't matter.

Please take time and get your facts straight before you comment.
All players were flown to Valencia for free. All players got to stay at a 5 star hotel. All players had their own computers available during the entire event. Top 2 gets wildcards to DH winter. Winner got 15000 USD.
Pretty much free "vacation" with a chance to win some money at the same time.
To people who take their starcraft seriously (like most of these guys), they are going to be in constant preparation/nervousness/stress before their match. I don't think it is much of a vacation to be honest.
Chilling for a couple of days won't hurt you, and i'm pretty sure that most of these players who will stay in Spain for day or two, will just chill out the rest of the time.
But you are right though. But still no need to complain why only winner takes it all. Players are taken care of really well by Dreamhack.

Of course. The games however are not of MLG's making. The players play, so that's attributed to them . Regarding the two streams, how often are games being played? How often are games being played at the same time? How often do you sit at your monitor watching said streams with no idea when the next match will be shown despite the fact that there are constant matches going on. By game turnover, I meant on stream.
The scale of it has nothing to do with any of the things I mentioned unless I'm mistaken. MLG does do a fantastic job, I'm not shitting on them or saying "this is fucking terrible". I'm saying DH did it better. Like MLG does casters better (sorry to upset anyone else's opinion). MLG does the whole 'epic tournament vibe' thing better. No one's arguing that.
Dreamhack is not better than MLG. MLG is not better than Dreamhack. I enjoyed Dreamhack AS A SPECTATOR more. (Plus, it's free HD stream)
A small invitational like DH Valencia isn't really the apt comparison to MLG, which are almost always big and grand. I like MLG for the reason that we get to see more games from more players. I mean, Naniwa's run this invitational was like, what, two games? Same with IdrA. With big names like these you want them to have more chances to show what they're capable of, and MLG kind of does that (though it does go overboard with how hard it is to fall out of the championship bracket).

Congratz to DRG, that was a great finals.
Also, is it me or does that interviewer look like the guy from white collar?!
