In Europe a sip of champagne is no big deal at all. Would americans actually react if someone underage had a sip of champagne?

If it was broadcast on national TV, yes.

when the canadian women's hockey team won gold at the vancouver olympics, they hung out on the ice drinking beer and smoking cigars to celebrate, and one of the players (who also happened to score both goals that game I think) was underaged, so the media stirred up a huge fuss.

so yeah, people love fussing over nothing
About a year ago in Norway we had this "sex education" program on the state channel, and a 19 year old girl got served liquor (which you must be 20 years old to drink in Norway if it's more that 22% alcohol) and the media tried to make a fuss about it, and everyone just went "stfu who the fuck cares?". I love my people.

Please take time and get your facts straight before you comment.

All players were flown to Valencia for free.
All players got to stay at a 5 star hotel.
All players had their own computers available during the entire event.
Top 2 gets wildcards to DH winter.
Winner got 15000 USD.

Pretty much free "vacation" with a chance to win some money at the same time.

To people who take their starcraft seriously (like most of these guys), they are going to be in constant preparation/nervousness/stress before their match. I don't think it is much of a vacation to be honest.

so true. best production BY FAR! mlg, please watch this and learn.

What does MLG need to learn? they for sure had a better stream.

How to host an event, quick game turnover, how to do a concise ceremony that isn't awkward, how to do adverts. There are many others I'm sure

You are of course aware that MLG is much much larger in size, hosts two streams at the same time, and has brought us some of the most memorable moments thus far in SC2, are you not? MLG does an amazing job, I don't see why every time a Dreamhack thread comes around people start calling it out...

Because if MLG improves the things that Dreamhack does well (and the point system) then it would be absolutely epic.

To be fair, Dreamhack is never going to come close to MLG. That being said, both tournaments are great!

I think it's cool we're going to hit 500 pages too

MLG has the crowd and Code A/S spots. Dreamhack has production, worlds biggest LAN and best foreigners(EU players mainly).

To me it´s pretty even.

MLG has production as well (and I've been to one), more of the best foreigners (Naniwa, Thorzain, Huk, and IdrA have all been to MLG too... not to mention dozens of other greats) and more great Koreans. And it's a weekend long, not just a few hours.

But anyways, this isn't a comparison thread, so I won't argue which is better. What's important in this thread is that DreamHack was very well done! ♥

I think they do that because it's true that MLG could learn a lot of things from dreamhack. Of course, the same goes for the other way around.

Why argue about DreamHack over MLG? Just be happy we have two really good tournamet producers that can learn from each other and both get better in the future.

That was a pretty good finals and both players showed us why they deserved to be there. I hope in the future DRG rocks code S and Thorzain rules over Europe with a silver spoon ^-^.

The award ceremony was awkward as hell but cute I think DRH was trying to figure out how to kiss his star at one point. I'm a little sad we didn't get to see the crowd sprayed with champagne but I guess that could cause trouble later. Final thought, great tournament I hope we get lots of details on the after party.

Even flash would take a day of vacation if he was invited to a spanish city like Valencia. It's just impossible to say no to a day and a night in a city where even in october you can go to beach lol.

Btw, congratz DRG!

I think the stage was a bit too small for that unfortunately.
