Without this Dreamhack will sadly never be the best tournament

Its the whole point of this tournement. They got dreamhack to give out pricemoney to more people.

its still "hurting" Esports, if I may say so

I never say this but...

shut the fuck up about "hurting esports"

You are right, but no need for the aggressive tune lol

One of the best tournaments I've ever seen. Short wait between games, and every break there were a timer showing the time and when the next match started so you didn't have to worry about timezones that is fucking superb. I am one of those guys who love dApollo and TB so the casting was awesome as well for me. The games were awesome. Great picture quality (little hickups but come on, wasn't that bad). And watching DRG after he won made me all warm inside, so happy. The biggest disapointment for me was that they fucked up the champagne. Looking forward to DH winter. For once, winter cannot come fast enough.

All players were flown to Valencia for free.
All players got to stay at a 5 star hotel.
All players had their own computers available during the entire event.
Top 2 gets wildcards to DH winter.
Winner got 15000 USD.

so true. best production BY FAR! mlg, please watch this and learn.

What does MLG need to learn? they for sure had a better stream.

How to host an event, quick game turnover, how to do a concise ceremony that isn't awkward, how to do adverts. There are many others I'm sure

Have you been to an MLG? They know how to put on a show. As for a quick game turnover... there are 256+ people competing with 4 games and 4 stages...it's understandable how a tournament with 8 players has a faster game turnover.

Blame the ceremony on American MLG staff who haven't done anything with SC2 before starting the past year or so. As for advertisements, can't complain there.

You can't say that MLG has a shitty production, because it doesn't. MLG is very VERY high quality, and so is Dreamhack. They're just two different beasts.

You mean host an 8 man event with no open tourney?

And European award ceremonies are the worst, by far.

I mean literally host, as in compare 2gd to JP. And it's an invitational so ofc there's no open tourney, that's the essentials of the tournament though.

Regarding the last part, that's an opinion but I didn't cringe once during that one.

To be fair, Dreamhack is never going to come close to MLG. That being said, both tournaments are great!

DH is way better than MLG... MLG is sooooo bad.
1) LAME points system makes bad players seeded OVER AND OVER...
2) No HD
3) Waiting times

Lol?

Quick game turnover is always going to be an issue when you have SO MANY GAMES played over the weekend. I do think MLG needs to just put on games regardless of having no casters though to fill the gaps.

You're telling me that ceremony wasn't awkward? Loool. All those jokes on stage where borderline awkward depending on your sense of humor.

MLG> DH sorry.

In Europe a sip of champagne is no big deal at all. Would americans actually react if someone underage had a sip of champagne?

Its a crime to provide alcohol to anyone not of the legal drinking age. In some states its also a felony. To do it in on TV (or livestream) would be quite bad.

I got to taste beer when I was in kindergarten

Most kids did. And 99.99% of them don't like it, which keeps them off of alcohol for at least a decade or so. Not the point.

The point is, it's just champagne. In basically every part of the world, champagne is used for celebrating. I highly doubt anyone -- even if this took place in America -- is going to get in trouble for giving the winner of $15,000 a sip of alcohol.

This is really pathetic. Yeah, alcoholism is promoted by a nerd not knowing how to open a bottle of champagne....

Just don't... wrong... never mention this shit again... 15 legal age for driving (this is actually INSANE, what maturity can a kid of 15 have) 18 to be able to go to the army and make legal decisions, yet 21 to have a sip of beer or champagne...

Don't ever try to bring this topic up ^^

By the way, congrtats to DRG he deserved it!!
