I think they are this weekend. Around 10-12 players can get into code A from the qualifiers, because a bunch of foreigners will be competing in code A next season.
|
It is tomorrow, but I'm trying to find out the venue too.
|
|
|
They're being casted, apparently.
|
Did any of the SlayerS get free Code A spots from MLG for placing 3-4?
|
Casted? Seriously? Thats great news!

There was some confusion over whether it's Koreans that don't get Code A spots from MLG, or just the Korean invites (which would make more sense to me personally).
If the latter were true, then GanZi would get a Code A spot as he reached top 4 from the Open Bracket at Anaheim.
Unfortunately, Boxer remains in Code B either way.
|
Correct me if im wrong, but both BoxeR and GanZI got a code A spot from MLG right? And MMA got code S due to MVP already having it?
|
Only foreign based players are eligible. None of the Korean invites or open bracket players will get Code A spots.
Foreign based meaning that somebody like SeleCT would be eligible even though he is Korean by nationality.

There are 16 spots up for grabs normally. 4 belong to Naniwa, Thorzain, Fenix and SaSe. That makes 12 places up for grabs. Then you have to replace Sheth and Rain/Ryung. So another 2.
EDIT: Also GOM have the notoriety for announcing players very late/not revealing how many spaces are up for grabs (for instance they only announced Sheth after the qualifiers for last season was done and only announced the foreign seeds for GSL March on the day of the qualifiers.)

So unfair.

Does anyone know if Ganzi and Boxer will be back in Korea in time for the qualifiers? edit: oh crap I forgot about DRG too!

For sure Boxer doesn't get it, the Code A spots go to "Non-Koreans", so I presume GanZi doesn't get it either (though read above for an alternative interpretation) - either way Boxer dosen't get it.
The question is who's gonna take the spots, Naniwa has it already, Idra obviously has no interest...
SjoW - I can't imagine him taking it after denying it last time (confirm/deny?) Ret - See above Slush - See above Sheth - Someone came home from Korea early
Kiwikaki - Will he take it? He's previously tried to qualify for Code A but now there's a team house (in San Fran or something?) My guess is NO Socke - Can't see him leaving Europe for Korea Haypro/TLO - Already were there, Haypro recently left too. SeleCT - can't see him taking it
I can keep going on and on, but in essence, is this becoming an embarrassment to GSL/MLG? That no one wants to go to Code A? Personally I wouldn't mind either cutting it to 1 or 2 spots, or allowing Koreans to take the spots.

boxer, ganzi,DRG are still in NA are they gonna make it to code A qualifier?

I figure they will probably be back for the 2nd day, or else GOM wouldn't have scheduled the qualifiers then. (might be wrong though). But it's only about a 12 hour flight from California to Seoul, so they'll probably be back. Just worried bout the jetlag issues for them.

Hopefully they don't all end up in the same bracket a day later or some shit rofl . Code A qualifier of death w/ boxer ganzi drg.

Well...tbh I can completely understand players below those ranks you mentioned not taking the spots. They are basically just cannon fodder, and even if by some miracle could win their ro32 Code A game, the chances of them making it to the up/downs and then to code S is basically 0. They would really just be going to practice for a month (I would argue that is still worth it though, players seem to disagree).

The people from MLG Anaheim wouldn't come til the next GSL anyway, if there even are any. It wouldn't be for GSL August.

No, the MLG posts about it said the invited players couldn't. What they meant was "Players normally in Korea, that could qualify for Code A without having to leave their Home Country & playing environment are eligible for Code A spots."
So, Rain & Select could take spots, but Choya & Ganzi can't. (Rain is banned for 3 months, but he could have taken a spot, since he now lives in NYC and plays for a non-Korea based team)
Whether FXOz can is anyone's guess.
