YES, so happy that BoxeR managed to qualify! Not too surprising though, the man's playing really well lately. ^^

Glad DongRaeGu qualified as well! Lol at InCa being his first opponent - I like InCa but he's not exactly stellar at PvZ. DRG is definitely making it to the up/downs.

Extremely glad to see top 3-5 of MLG qualify for Code A anyway, even though I believe Ganzi should have been give a slot regardless.

The problem I have with the current MLG system is that mediocre players are getting Code A slots. I mean, even though Fenix is way better than me, it just feels so unfair that someone like Sage cannot get through the qualifiers and Fenix gets in purely because foreigners all seem to do bad at MLG and that most don't want to go to Korean anyway. MLG should make a system where, you have to be in the top 8 to get the Code A slot, otherwise more and more mediocre foreigners will be taking a place of a more deserving Korean.

Just woke up, holy balls...I'd write more coherently but I'm a bit tired and hilariously awe struck.

Were the games good? I went to bed after Ganzi won, but:

Cella made final round?! Before being bested by DRG..and aru actually won against Lyn. (Were these two series actually good?)

and...Boxer...
the farm ends here

Cella six pooled on XNC and went gold hatch first on Metal to pretty much give DRG the wins, although it only sped up the inevitable. Maru pretty much outclassed Lyn in two quick games.

Anyways. Watched all of the stream, day 1 and 2. And seeing how hard it is for the koreans, and seeing how many DAMN good players get knocked out, its a DAMN shame that they give free invites to foreigners. They should go through the qualifiers. I feel the same way about MLG by the way. Dont give people free ins. But I feel more so in this case. Koreans that are probably 3 times better than the foreign invites are working their asses off, but some foreign noobs take their spots.

I respect what MorroW said. He doesnt want a free foreigner spot, if he is to play in GSL he wants to earn it so he knows he is good enough.

If you have looked at the games and brackets you would know qualifiying is as hard or even harder than winning MLG (depends on bracket and korean invites at mlg ofcourse).

Not giving foreigners free spots is unfair to the foreigners. Remember that it's free for a Korean to try to get in, but a foreigner has to take a flight to Korea, live there for a few days so he isn't jet-lagged, try his hand at the qualifiers, and then fly back if he doesn't make it. That's time-consuming, exhausting, and brutally expensive. And the foreigners who got free ins haven't done so badly; only HayprO and Moonglade took a Ro32 out, while Huk made Code S and Sheth at least made Ro16. And the players who are getting in next season are much better than HayprO and Moonglade ever were...

Huk was the only one out of the 4 who made it into the system. Sheth could have gone arguably further if he didn't meet Puzzle. That still isn't a case for giving a free spot to other foreigners who, quite frankly, may not even make it halfway through Code B. Thorzain and Naniwa might face an early exit just as likely based on bracket luck. That's just how cruel the system is.

Foreigners who are capable of doing so should take a leaf out of FXO's book and send their guys here to train, simply because it's worth the investment should they be able to afford it. I can't believe you are so willing to deny some other unknown Code B Korean (who may be a budding star) that hasn't had face time in the GSL yet in favor of other top foreigners who might not qualified for Code A on their own merit. I'm pretty confident that sending relative unknowns like Seal and Sage to MLG would also result in them tearing the open bracket a new ass.

I'm sure GOM will use their discretionary seeds wisely.

People complaining about the Foreigner invites are completely missing the point.

1. Do the best players always make it through the qualifiers (no, over a period of many quaifiers yes, but not for individual qualifiers)
2. Is it a huge investment to come to korea to try to qualify? (yes)
3. Does GOM want foreign player representation in code A? (yes)

If you take all at face value, the invite system makes perfect sense. I know there are some on here that don't care about (3), but I definitely do. I think this might be a difference between newer Starcraft fans who never really followed Broodwar and older fans. Or it may be a simple difference in worldview, caring about drama over fairness.

For me, I never miss a game that has either a foreigner or a handful of Koreans of which I am a fan. The rest of them are if I have time. It would be much less compelling for me without the foreigner invites.

Yeah, the system they have now is good. It's good for everyone to have a few foreigners in there.
