"trying-to-win" playstyle not for you? Just watch Idra games then, you'll be better off.

Too much stuff from MKP on both fronts, HerO gets cleaned up at MKP's and misses a forcefield to let MKP into his base. HerO goes back with the warp prism to MKP's base in desperation but fails. MKP wins 4-2 after a disappointing final game. thx a lot!

You can't purely do macro games, because then your opponent will cut a ton of corners and you end up behind, but if you play largely macro games and are a good player you will have continued long term success where the cheesy player can win games they would otherwise lose by cheesing alot, but ultimately they disappear from the scene. Compare the 1st season of GSL to recent seasons and you see no bitbybitprimes. Even MKP can play a macro game, he just for some reason loves to cheese...a lot.

If MKP thinks 1-basing is his best chance to win the game, then he is playing to win. The victory screen doesn't care about how you won. Enjoy your scrub mentality.

Enjoy your scrub mentality. Someone sounds like a butt hurt MKP fan :/. My message above addresses any of this. Cheese is an option. You do it to punish greedy play and prevent yourself from becoming predictable. You can't possibly defend mass cheese as a good strategy for pro gaming success. For his own sake, he has to play more solidly or he will end up in code B with all the other players(except hongun) who cheese as much as he does ended up.

MKP went for heavy 1 base on XNF and Dual Site. On Dual Site, Hero went for 3 gate void initially and did a 1 base warp prism/4gate on Shattered. All other games the players were going for more expansion focused play. MKP one based as many games as Hero did, and the 1/1/1 that MKP did I feel could of been beaten if Hero played better. There is no basis for hating on MKP for winning this series with the playstyles that he executed. He did get a few BO wins but that happens sometimes. With the arguable exception of the Xel Naga Fortress game he never played in a truly all in style, instead hitting a series of timings with each timing potentially ending the game immeadiately and that's just him being a good player.

He was taking quite a bit of fire from units he had basically sectioned out of the fight due to letting his units auto concave out that way? I agree with that assessment, he let too much of the army attack his units and should have strung out the fight longer if possible - even the first forcefields were off somewhat. Pretty sick push that really maximizes the timings of the gasless expo having a bunch of early marines :o
