If you have $50k prize money, and you want to play with the big boys, you make damn sure to have the same production quality. It's so hard to understand why the prize money is so big, but they couldn't fit a proper audio engineer in the budget. NASL had many options. They could hire professionals unrelated to SC2 scene, or they could even hire the Craftcup guys or iCCup people. Hiring your (girl)friends and buddies does not make things look professional at all. It gives people the impression that you rather have your friends working there than provide the customers with a good product, when the NASL started off with everyone raving about it's huge budget. Imo, if NASL really wanted to start tourneys in SC2 and they wanted to do it with unexperienced people, they'd first have those people as apprentice for a big event so they can learn how it is done. Plus, it would have been far better if NASL started out small. Just small weekly tourneys for <$500. Another thing that undermines professionality is the casting and the interviews. If you have flown Day9 and Tastosis over to your venue, let them cast it. Especially when there has been harsh critiques for your own casters. The questions for the interviews should pertain to the games that have just been played (IE: Why'd you choose to do x against player y?). Instead, the questions were the same ones for pretty much every player, and it was clear the interviewers didn't really know that much about SC2. I'd love to have seen a SC2 player/caster do the interviews (I wouldn't care if inControl or Gretorp would have done that, they'd at least know what to ask). In conclusion, if NASL wants to be a professional and competing league, they need to step it up really fast. When MLG Dallas had it really bad, they improved vastly in a matter of months, and Columbus was a shining beacon of success. If NASL cannot improve within the amount of time that's between S1 and S2, there won't be any viewer base left.

It's their first attempt at a big live event. Cut them some slack.

They're just the casters. They're doing their job and I don't see too many complaints about that. The problem is the production and the behind-the.scenes crew. Casters shouldn't have to defend production, or make up for the tournaments shortcomings. Even amateurs should do a lot better with that budget. Also, problems aside, it's simply not acceptable to have your viewers in the dark for 1½ hours. There are channels for communication - websites (TL/nastl.tv), social media (twitter) and even the stream itself to INFORM your viewers so they don't sit around just waiting staring at nothing.

Actually would that be such a bad idea? I think it would be easier to find sponsors and investors if they knew they had hired a competent crew.

My note on the whole koreans R imba imba deal is well, they're culture supports their pro players, our culture doesn't. Sure there are sponsors for some pro teams in NA but in Korean they are treated like athletes. Sheth has said in an interview (I forget which) that he is not supported in his sc2 undertakings by his parents. I'd bet you many NA players face this issue or even more so, not being understood, supported, or encouraged by friends, their community or co-workers, or family alike. I doubt a single Korean Pro is belittled or shamed for they're gaming career. Also I think they have an advantage because of the size of their country and the dense population. Think if all NA pro's lived in Indiana (roughly the size of S.Korea) It would be very easy to get all of them to organize they're life around living in the same city and training as much as they could. In Korea that is how it is and I would go as far to say that they are FULL time pro gamers because of how physically accessible the gaming community is. AKA in America and what not gamers are more likely to have other agendas and careers because it takes a virtually unknown amount of effort to independently create the environment you need to perfect your skill. I remember hearing destiny and catz streaming and they were discussing trying to get some small event going and the difficulty of them setting up a LAN together. These are two well liked respected NA gamers on the same team living only a couple states apart and yet there is that physically barrier that is mostly non existent to the Koreans. Basically we need to fence off Indiana and move all the pro gamers there and force them to abandon their college and planned careers. GL wow i typed way more than i meant to but i guess i've never ranted about this before and it's a big topic hahaha. But really think about it, if I wanted to go pro, what am i gonna do? call up idra and say hey let's do some zvz's? No i'm going to play ladder for the next year and put intention towards getting out of the plat league and waste a bunch of time training against all inner's that I know I can't build as many drones against as I'd like or practice builds I would ever use in a pro tournament. I guess it's probably still a problem for Korean Sc2 non-pro's trying to get in the scene but still much easier for them to overcome than us. Simply go to GSL opens which happen what like 6 times a year i dunno...point is i'm ranting and i need to hit post lololl

They need to change the whole crew to make up for this. This has been a horrible production and i cant see the guys learn enough to make a good production for next season when they cant even handle the simplest things as a camera filming the face instead of legs.
